Girls Inc. of Westchester County — Job Description Part-Time Program Facilitator Program delivery at assigned school sites. The second staff at every session — building relationships, delivering curriculum, and documenting impact. Organization Girls Inc. of Westchester County Reports To Program Manager Employment Type Part-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly) Compensation $20.00-$30.00/hr (school year) Hours Hours vary and are determined by cluster/school assignment hours per week during the school year (September-June). Schedule discussed during hiring process Schedule Monday meetings required weekly virtual (3:00-5:00 PM) takes place in person once a month + assigned program days by geographic cluster Term School-year commitment is strongly encouraged (September-June). A two-year commitment is preferred for program continuity. Location 55 Church Street, White Plains, NY — with travel to assigned school sites throughout Westchester County Position Overview The Part-Time Program Facilitator is the second staff member at every Girls Inc. school-based program session. Working alongside the Program Coordinator or Program Manager, Facilitators help deliver high-quality, engaging programming to girls at assigned sites — building a safe, energetic, and affirming space where participants grow. Facilitators are assigned to a geographic cluster of schools and attend all programs within that cluster. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for youth development, availability during program hours, and a desire to grow in the field. Strong candidates will have demonstrated experience working with groups of youth ages 9+ in a professional setting. Geographic Cluster Assignment Facilitators are hired by geographic cluster rather than by age group. You will work at all school sites within your assigned area of Westchester County. Your cluster assignment will be confirmed before you start.
Current clusters include:
Ossining / Upper Westchester — Roosevelt Elementary (Wed), Ann M. Dorner MS (Thu), Claremont Elementary (Fri). After-school programs, 3:00-6:00 PM. Lower Westchester — Graham Magnet School, Mt. Vernon (school-day Tue/Thu 11 AM-1 PM) + Port Chester MS (after-school Wed 3:00-5:00 PM). Day Schools — Rochambeau Alternative HS (Wed), White Plains HS (Thu). School-day programs, 11:00 AM-12:30 PM. Daytime availability is essential for this cluster. Saturday Programs — GLC, Girl Talk, Career Readiness. Saturday mornings, 10:00 AM-12:30 PM and/or 1:30 -3:30 PM. Key Responsibilities Facilitation & Program Delivery Co-facilitate program sessions at all assigned sites alongside the Program Coordinator or Program Manager — serving groups of 15-30 elementary, middle, or high school girls Deliver Girls Inc. curriculum in person, adapting lesson plan support to be intentional, age-appropriate, interactive, and relevant to participants Maintain a safe, supportive, and well-managed learning environment; uphold group norms and enforce safety protocols at all times Serve as a positive role model for girls, staff, and volunteers — demonstrating professionalism and commitment to high-quality program delivery Support participant engagement — build rapport with girls, encourage participation, manage group dynamics, and help create a pro-girl environment Supervise participants during field trips and special events, ensuring safety and engagement throughout; option to chaperone overnight camp trips Lesson Planning & Preparation Complete floating asynchronous prep time each week — prepare lesson plan support materials, review curriculum, and prepare visual aids and activity materials before each session Submit lesson plan contributions to the Program Manager/Coordinator before each session, by the established deadline Attend the Monday in-office session (2:00-5:00 PM) every week — this is the team's required shared planning, training, and coordination time Participate in the Friday team prep block and team meeting when scheduled Participate in quarterly module prep — review upcoming curriculum content, prepare materials, and support session planning Administration & Documentation Complete session attendance records at each program — submit to Program Coordinator for entry into Compass 360 Complete session support notes after each program, documenting participant engagement, challenges, and highlights Complete incident reports for any safety, behavioral, or emergency situations at assigned sites Maintain accurate written documentation including attendance sheets, program schedules, and registration forms Take photos and highlights from program sites; submit to Program Coordinator for review Build and contribute to the site binder for each assigned school: attendance, lesson notes, and contact list Communication & Team Communicate proactively with the Program Manager about scheduling, availability, participant concerns, or any on-site issues Participate in weekly 30-minute 1:1 check-in with the Program Manager Complete all required paperwork and administrative responsibilities in a timely manner Qualifications Experience working with youth ages 8-18 in an educational, recreational, or community setting — demonstrated experience with groups of 15+ participants preferred Proven ability to lead and facilitate youth programs with effective group management and engagement strategies Ability to build positive, empowering relationships with girls and foster self-confidence, leadership, and personal growth Ability to develop lesson plans, adapt curriculum, and deliver engaging large-group activities Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills using positive youth development principles Strong communication skills — with young people, families, and school staff Reliable and punctual — consistent attendance is essential for program quality and participant trust Available for Monday in-office sessions (2:00-5:00 PM) and assigned program days within your cluster; school-year term commitment required Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the mission of Girls Inc. Experience with Compass 360 or similar data entry systems a plus Associate's degree required; relevant work experience will be considered Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation preferred — some clusters require travel between sites Bilingual English/Spanish a plus Pay Structure Part-Time Facilitators are compensated using one of two models — both are described below. Mileage reimbursement is provided for all travel to and from assigned school sites. The model in effect for your position will be confirmed in your offer letter.
Stipend MOdel:
$30.00/hr for program delivery (facilitation) — time spent in front of girls $20.00/hr for planning, prep, team meetings, and administrative time Prep hours are floating — completed independently during the week, with lesson plans due before each session The stipend model is designed to be transparent, predictable, and reflective of the different kinds of work involved. It is more competitive for experienced facilitators and mirrors the teaching-artist compensation model increasingly used across the youth development sector. Break & Summer Opportunities Current school-year facilitators are offered the first opportunity to work winter break, spring break, and summer programming. Break schedules are communicated at least 2-3 months in advance. Summer programming runs approximately June 15 through August 15, including a camp in Yonkers and a camp in Ossining. An option to chaperone one overnight camp in July or August may be available. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment, and the physical ability to perform light lifting. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk; use hands to handle materials; reach with hands and arms; stoop or bend; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Work is performed in an office or classroom setting. Travel to various locations throughout Westchester County is required. Working conditions generally have little or no exposure to extremes in safety hazards or hazardous materials.
