General Description:

General Function:
Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, the SUN Site Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations, including but not limited to: safety of students, schedule/school building logistics, and the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of program staff and collaboration with Partners. The SUN Site Manager builds and maintains relationships by clearly communicating, achieving set goals, and collaborating with the students/families, school day staff, and community partners. The SUN Site Manager creates and maintains a long-term vision for the program in collaboration with the program advisory and family engagement team. The SUN Site Manager oversees program quality, maintains and tracks grant compliance, and is responsible for the data entry of both SUN and 21st CCLC offerings at Meadows Elementary School. The position requires a high level of understanding and ability to operate Google Workspace, Excel, MFS Database systems, and school district database systems. The SUN Site Manager is also working to build a food for program for families that includes food deliveries, weekend food bag. This function is a collaboration effort that includes volunteers and school day staff. Diversity, Equity and Social Justice Values working in a multi-cultural, diverse environment Values and supports inclusion and program access for clients Supports agency goals for enhancing diversity within department areas Adopts anti-racism approaches to services by understanding and acknowledging systemic and individual racism and privilege Collaboration Ability to work effectively in collaboration within all departments of MFS as well as other agencies, and within MFS program areas Ability and commitment to work effectively within a team-dependent environment Ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups Teamwork Ability to work independently and to collaborate with other MFS staff and volunteers to model effective teamwork skills Values the inclusion of multiple voices, including clients/service users, in the design and implementation of programs and services Program Administration Minimum of two years of experience in program development and administration Knowledgeable about youth development (theory and practice) Experience in developing and managing budgets Advanced knowledge and competency to operate a personal computer Advanced competency in using Word, Excel and various database programs Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Possesses excellent time management and organizational skills Possesses excellent classroom and behavior management skills Ability to effectively manage and maintain confidential and sensitive information Ability to recognize and manage critical incidents within program and/mandatory reporting regulations and responsibilities Ability and commitment to continuous quality improvements and innovation of programs Supervision Demonstrated effective and consistent successful supervision of temporary and regular staff and ability and experience with mentoring staff on effective supervision skills Experience and thorough understanding of effective communication skills Effective understanding of employment laws, rules, and regulations Ability to provide necessary information in a timely manner to staff and volunteers Ability to set quality standards for programming and ensure adherence to standards Abilities and experience in the development and supervision of academic enrichment and/or recreational programs Demonstrates continued accountability for effective, timely, and consistent supervision of staff and volunteers Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and coordinate before-school, after-school, and summer programs that support student academic, enrichment, and family engagement goals Collaborate with school staff, families, community partners, and advisory groups to develop and implement high-quality programming Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and support program staff and volunteers Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community organizations Engage families in program planning, leadership opportunities, and educational activities Coordinate partnerships and community resources to meet student and family needs Manage program operations, including scheduling, enrollment, budgets, data collection, reporting, and compliance requirements Lead outreach and marketing efforts to recruit students, families, volunteers, and community partners Facilitate meetings, advisory committees, and family leadership groups Ensure services are delivered through a culturally responsive and strengths-based approach Support student success through positive behavior management and effective communication Maintain confidential records and personnel documentation in accordance with agency policies Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development activities Represent the organization professionally and promote its mission and programs Required Skills/Qualifications Minimum two years of experience developing and managing youth or community-based programs Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or program teams Experience managing program budgets and resources Experience working with elementary-aged students in school or community settings Ability to build and maintain partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations Strong leadership, organization, and project management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams. Strong classroom and behavior management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality Basic understanding of employment laws and workplace regulations Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are preferred but not required
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum of a BA or BS in public service, recreation or human services related field; MSW or MA preferred; or equivalent, related experience Experience working in school based academic enrichment, recreation or social services programming is preferred Fluency and ability to communicate effectively in languages in addition to English is preferred
Other Requirements:
Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy. MFS requires all employees and volunteers to complete a criminal background check. We review the results of all background checks individually and consider all of the circumstances of any issues that arise in a background check during the hiring process.
Work Environment:
Work is performed on site or in other office environments, at community events, and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. Position requires ability to sit for extended periods as well as stand occasionally. Position requires use of computer, telephone, fax machine, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.
