OVERVIEW OF POSITION
The NSLP Program Coordinator plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) at Community Academy of Philadelphia. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting nutritious meal programs that support student health and academic success. The coordinator is responsible for the administration, monitoring, and reporting of program activities, including eligibility determination, meal counts, and reimbursement claims. They collaborate closely with school administrators, food service staff, and community partners to optimize program delivery and address any challenges. Ultimately, the NSLP Program Coordinator contributes to the well-being of students by ensuring access to healthy meals in a compliant and efficient manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Demonstrated experience working with the National School Lunch Program or other federally funded child nutrition programs. Strong working knowledge of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations and guidelines governing school nutrition programs. Proficiency in data management systems and reporting software used for program administration and compliance. Excellent organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
: ServSafe Certification required and must be renewed every five (5) years Experience in training and supervising food service personnel. Familiarity with state-specific NSLP policies and procedures. Advanced skills in spreadsheet and database management.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage daily operations of the National School Lunch Program, ensuring adherence to USDA guidelines and regulations. Conduct eligibility determinations for free and reduced-price meal applications and maintain accurate records. Prepare and submit timely reimbursement claims and required reports the Business Office Train and support Food Service Management Company (FSMC) on program requirements, meal pattern standards, and recordkeeping. Review monthly meal count from FSMC for accuracy and forward the report to Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) for processing through the PEARS or other approved system Monitor program compliance through regular audits and reviews, implementing corrective actions as needed. Collaborate with school administrators, parents, and community organizations to promote program participation and nutrition education. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy changes and provide guidance to ensure ongoing compliance. Consults with Operations Manager regarding purchasing and required requests for proposals (RFP)/Requests for Quotes (RFQ) Develop and implement strategies to improve meal quality, participation rates, and operational efficiency. Perform other duties as requested by the Operations Manager, or Administrator in accordance with school policies and practices

Communication skills are employed regularly to train staff, collaborate with school leadership, and engage with families and community partners to promote program participation. Analytical skills are used to review program data, identify trends, and implement improvements to increase efficiency and meal quality. Additionally, proficiency with data management tools supports accurate reporting and compliance monitoring, enabling the coordinator to maintain program integrity and secure funding.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
