GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Interim Program Coordinator of the STARS (Students Together Achieving Remarkable Success) Program provides leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic enrichment, college and career readiness, mentoring, and community engagement initiatives serving underserved and underrepresented middle and high school students. The position requires a highly collaborative, culturally responsive, and relationship-centered professional who can effectively connect students and families with educational, financial, mentoring, and career resources and opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Coordinator role, through the STARS program, seeks to create a middle school to college and career pipeline for underserved and underrepresented youth through collaboration with local school districts, colleges, community organizations, and churches.
The Interim Program Coordinator will:
Create a middle school to college and career pipeline for underserved and underrepresented youth Collaborate with school districts, local colleges, community organizations, and Marywood University's Office of Community Service and Social Justice. Facilitate information and resources to youth and their families on how to prepare and succeed in reaching their long-term academic/career goals. Provide community and group-based mentoring experiences that will build relationships and a sense of belonging in the community. Assume responsibility for outcomes required by grants. Supervise a Marywood University work study position (i.e., the STARS Student Coordinator) Engage with Marywood University's student organizations, clubs, academic departments, and outreach programs in meeting STARS program goals
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Ability to support the mission and core values of Marywood University Ability to work successfully with students, their families, Marywood staff, and community partners Bilingual in English and Spanish Ability to promote an inclusive community that enhances the success of students on their trajectory to college and/or career Strong desire to make an impact in students' lives Strong written and interpersonal communication skills Good organizational, computer, and social media skills Cultivate trust and credibility in Marywood University, in the communities we serve, and with critical stakeholders Prepare reports and assessments as requested by Marywood University and grantors. Collaborate with Admissions Office to meet with prospective Latinx students and their families to guide students through the admission and financial aid processes. Recruit and train volunteers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, education, or a related area At least one year of experience working within the Hispanic community, preferably in the Scranton area
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices Knowledge of both on-campus and off-campus constituents that will benefit STARS students and programs. Experience with administrative practices, budget management, goal-setting, and assessment. Ability to interact comfortably with families and multiple community partners.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing, walking, moving around a classroom setting Carrying boxes with supplies and snacks (up to 20 lbs.)
