This Washington State Tribal Liaison will build partnerships, bridge communication and offer solutions through a culturally appropriate delivery system for American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) statewide. The role is required to work with Tribal Partners and community providers to develop/facilitate health services that are culturally responsive. The position collaborates with Tribes, medical and behavioral health (BH) providers, community organizations, and State agencies to support service delivery. The position will work with internal teams within the Washington market, particularly around topics of provider adequacy for the AI/AN managed care population, culturally appropriate care and coordination for members, adherence to Tribal sovereignty and appropriate protocols and regulations, and collaboration on cultural humility. This position will also serve as the primary point of contact for Tribes and external agency Offices of Tribal Affairs, will triage and assist with inquiries to internal departments, will provide external communication of UHC processes and operations, and will help facilitate meetings between Tribal Partners and UHC staff. Primary Responsibilities:
Build, manage and maintain a solid relationship with Tribal partners, WA State agencies, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and Apple Health to build trust, align work with the Tribes' and State's priorities for health and healthy opportunities, ensure proper planning of educational events, and adhere to Tribal sovereignty and federal and state regulations Develop project plans to align with Tribes' and State's key heath priorities and support health education activities programs as they relate to the AI/AN Medicaid population while adhering to Apple Health marketing guidelines Work with Tribal Partners to coordinate the implementation of any new and/or modified benefits or protocols for Indian Healthcare providers (IHCP) and coordinate education to clinical staff and members Attend training conducted by one or more IHCP and/or the American Indian Health Commission (AIHC) for Washington state and/or the DSHS and/or the Indian Policy Advisory Committee, on AI/AN health disparities and needs, the Indian health care delivery systems, the government-to-government relationships between state of Washington and the federally recognized tribes applicable federal and state laws and regulations, applicable provisions in the contract and matters specific to IHCP's Participate in treatment and discharge planning, including continuity of care in the nearest clinically appropriate setting for AI/AN enrollees, including Behavioral Health Services only (BHSO) admitted for voluntary inpatient psychiatric and/or residential care Attend and actively participate in all required meetings related to Tribal Health, including those with community and government agencies, MCO's, providers, and others Interface with the Washington Healthcare Authority (HCA) Office of Tribal Affairs to represent UnitedHealthcare and advise on Managed Care initiatives regarding Tribal Partners Submit to HCA Tribal Affairs Office an annual report that includes outreach activities for the upcoming year with IHCP's in developing and implementing various services, financing models and other activities to enhance and support care coordination important for access of trauma informed cared Represent UnitedHealthcare at meetings, forums and applicable conferences (examples: HCA, Regional & Statewide Tribal, Individual Tribal) Advise leadership on funding for special projects, and subsequently, manage the end-to-end grant process for the local grantee Make recommendations to leadership regarding development, revision, and/or implementation of UHC processes, protocols, and engagement of UHC programs and staff with Tribes and the AI/AN population Schedule and participate in education and awareness events for Apple Health beneficiaries in assigned region Perform post-event evaluations, summarize, and identify enhancements for future events (e.g., surveys, feedback sessions) Input and track activities into a reporting database, ensuring accuracy for reporting within 48 hours of event/meeting Analyzes various types of internal and external data to determine types of educational opportunities to develop in assigned territory Meet or exceed department service standards and productivity goals consistently Serve as a valuable resource, externally and cross functionally within the organization Identify innovative ways to engage and meet the needs of the underserved Serve as the primary Indian Health Care Compliance Manager You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in Tribal community outreach, tribal engagement, or social work 2+ years of demonstrated knowledge of tribal communities, cultural background of American Indian/Alaska Native communities Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to work Monday - Friday and outside core business hours, per business needs Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within Washington State general service areas Resident of Washington State Access to insured reliable transportation and valid US driver's license with good driving history Citizen of one of the federally recognized Indian tribes inWashington State Preferred Qualifications:
Medicaid or managed care experience Work with or within a Tribe, Urban Indian organization, or Indian Health Services (IHS), preferably within Washington State Established relationships with Tribes in Washington State, community-based organizations (CBO's), faith-based organizations (FBO's), providers, and local Department of Health and Human Services Live in/within commutable distance to Seattle WA or Spokane WA •All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
