Bariatric Program Coordinator (Full Time-Days)

Work hours: Full Time- 40 hours per week; Days; Monday-Friday hours 8:00 AM
- 5:00 PM Surgery highlights: o Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team. o 8 Operating Rooms Including 3 Robotic Operating Rooms o Center of excellence for Bariatric surgery Here's What You Need
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing, Dietetics/Food and Nutrition or other clinical discipline Required
- 3 Years clinical experience which includes at least 1-year bariatric experience Required
- Program coordinator experience in another clinical service line Preferred
- BCLS
- Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required And
- Clinical licensure commensurate with area of expertise (Nursing, Dietetics, or another clinical discipline) Upon Hire Required What You Will Do
- Plans, coordinates, schedules and implements care of the bariatric patient through all phases of obesity treatment including workup, surgery, recovery and readmission.
- Provides educational information for staff and acts as a resource to staff regarding the bariatric patient, bariatric surgical procedures and bariatric equipment.
- Collaborates with department director to maintain compliance with regulatory/accreditation requirements.
- Collaborates with the department director and multidisciplinary team to incorporate American Society of Metabolic Bariatric Surgery's (ASMBS) guidelines for a Bariatric MBSAQIP Accredited Comprehensive Center.
- Remains knowledgeable of policies, procedure and changing information for compliance with hospital/regulatory agencies.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement process in the area of bariatric patient care.
- Appraises research data in the bariatric field and implements findings in patient care decisions. Assists staff nurses to implement research findings. Additional perks of being a Texas Health employee
