Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Manage district SACC program and supervise operations and personnel. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of afterschool service. Oversee compliance with district policies, success of student care sites, and operation of all program activities.
Education /
Certification:
Associate's degree and at least three years of relevant experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Current CPR and First Aid certificates
Special Knowledge & Skills:
Appropriate leadership skills to manage program and training/evaluating staff Knowledge of using a technology such as a personal computer with word processing and spreadsheet software, web-based programming, email, and Microsoft suite programs Knowledge of acceptable best practices in afterschool quality assurance Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to research, analyze, and interpret data and write reports Ability to make oral and written presentations Strong skills in presenting and communicating effectively in front of staff
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work with stakeholders to resolve complaints or concerns Ability to maintain confidentiality Strong customer service skills Event and program coordination skills High degree of professionalism Experience /
Other Requirements:
At least 2 years of program leadership experience, especially in a childcare setting
Experience in design and implementation of programs for children and youth, preferable in a multi-site capacity
Personal cell phone is required to handle district related business, including after hours, or when away from the office on district business
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Leadership Development Provide opportunities for comprehensive professional development for SACC leadership staff
- Work cooperatively with school administrators, district leaders, and department supervisors
- Provide leadership and assistance to SACC leaders in matters to promote staff development
- Supervises, evaluates, and coaches program staff
- Manages campus access of SACC staff
- Provides discipline and dismissal of SACC staff
- Assists SACC staff, families, school staff, and administration in problem solving and conflict resolution
- Stays informed of best practices in childcare operations Communicates between SACC programs, CISD, and cooperating agencies regarding program activities
- Coordinates, and attends SACC summer field trips and events to organize, and assist SACC staff in the safety of students
- Assists with printed material for SACC programs
- Creates and maintains curriculum outlines for program sites to follow
- Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records
- Communications Assists in publicity of SACC program
- Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with parents, campus administration, teachers, staff, and community Coordinate effective communication between staff, families, students and teachers
Provides assistance and/or support as needed to program staff, students, families, and community members of CISD Support board policy and board action with the superintendent, staff, campus personnel, and community as applicable Policy, Reports, and Law Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy as applicable
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required
Personnel Management Promote collegiality, teamwork, and collaborative decision making among staff
Assists screens applicants for SACC and manages new hire procedures, paperwork, fingerprinting, training, and orientation
Professional Goals & Growth Expand leadership skills and knowledge base through self-initiated professional development activities
Demonstrate leadership in the educational profession through active involvement in professional organizations Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals
Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical manner in accordance with Comal ISD Standards of Conduct and complies with the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned
Health & Safety:
Always be available during program hours in the case of an emergency and to support program staff Follow district procedures and best practices to safeguard the health and safety of children in the program, which include but are not limited to hand washing, sanitary measures, playground safety rules, rules regarding the use of supplies and equipment
Become knowledgeable of the district's emergency procedures and ensure proper practices of procedures are conducted on a regular basis or as instructed by the district's safety team
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Immediately supervises SACC Site Leads, in addition to aiding in supervision of SACC Site Assistants, Site Aides/ Subs, life guards, volunteers and interns.
