Job Description

Support Foodworks' guests with accessing food while strengthening FoodWorks' ability to expand community partnerships, improve volunteer coordination, enhance community outreach and connection to FoodWorks services. Groundworks Collaborative was established in 2015 following the merger of two well-established organizations: the Brattleboro Area Drop-In Center and Morningside Shelter (having previously been in existence for 27 and 36 years respectively). We work with people and systems creating solutions to end hunger and homelessness for all people in our region. We envision a community in which all people have their basic needs met, including a safe and dignified place to call home. Foodworks, a program of Groundworks Collaborative, mission is to provide food in a welcoming, low- barrier environment to people in the community who are experiencing any level of food insecurity. Additionally, we are committed to participating in fresh produce rescue to help decrease overall food waste in our region. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. Full Time:
Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 47 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $31,000 (pre-tax) and an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service.
Member Duties :
  • Assist with Fresh Rescue donation sorting: pick up donated foods from local grocery stores, weigh products, sort and organize donations
  • Support daily opening preparations
  • Assist with food shelf operations including stocking shelves, checking clients in, assisting clients
  • Support volunteers to participate in food shelf operations
  • Maintain current community partnerships and network to connect with and build new community partnerships
  • Connect and grow relationships with shoppers and volunteers
  • Participate in an Independent Service Project and in all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives.
