Job Description

We Don't Just Build Outdoor Spaces, We Build Experiences At DeckTech, we're passionate about creating exceptional outdoor living spaces, but what truly sets us apart is that DeckTech was built on the belief that construction should be structured, transparent, and professionally managed. That philosophy drives everything we do — and as our Assistant Project Manager, you'll be right there in the field helping bring it to life on every jobsite. Too often, homeowners feel uncertainty during building projects. Our company operates on defined systems that give clients clarity, confidence, and control from start to finish — and you'll be a key part of protecting that promise, every day, on every job. As the premier deck builder in Alabama and West Georgia, we're looking for someone who wants more than a job coordinating schedules. We're looking for a future leader who wants to grow alongside a company that's building something special. Our team takes pride in more than just building decks. We build trust with homeowners, pride in craftsmanship, and a culture where hard work and growth are valued. We operate as a close-knit team of hardworking professionals who treat clients, and each other, like family. Collaboration, respect, and accountability are core to how we work together every day. As DeckTech grows, we believe our people should grow with us. This Isn't Just a Support Role If you're a detail-driven organizer, a proactive communicator, or someone who wants hands-on construction experience with a clear path to leadership, this role offers something most APM positions can't: real ownership. You'll have a direct impact on how projects run, how clients experience their build, and how our subcontractors perform — all while learning the ropes alongside our Project Managers and Operations Manager. Instead of being buried in paperwork, you'll be hands-on in: Pre-Construction Support Scheduling & Coordination Field Support & Quality Control Client Communication Administrative & Documentation You'll work directly with company leadership, see the results of your efforts firsthand, and gain experience that would typically take years to accumulate in a larger corporate environment. What Success Looks Like You'll help protect project timelines and budgets, working alongside your Project Manager to keep every job on track. You'll help protect the client experience — supporting pre-construction communication, keeping homeowners updated, and helping with final walkthroughs. You'll support field production efficiency by conducting jobsite visits, documenting progress with photos and notes, and making sure crews are working according to scope. You'll keep internal communication clear — maintaining accurate job cost tracking, uploading invoices and receipts, and keeping our CRM and project management software up to date. Most importantly, you'll help us continue building a company known for excellence. Who Thrives Here We're looking for someone who: Is naturally organized and detail-oriented Communicates clearly, respectfully, and promptly Represents the company positively in the field Takes ownership of problems and pursues solutions Maintains a clean, professional appearance suitable for both construction sites and homeowner interactions Is eager to learn and grow Demonstrates leadership potential Has an ownership mindset Construction experience is helpful, but leadership potential, communication, and follow-through matter even more. The Opportunity Many companies offer a position. We're offering a career path. The Assistant Project Manager role is designed as a leadership development position. Advancement to Project Manager is earned through demonstrated competence, ownership, and leadership — including a full understanding of our project flow, accurate material verification and takeoff, consistent project documentation, reliable follow-through, proactive communication, strong job costing knowledge, and the ability to run smaller projects independently. If you're looking for a place where your growth is tied directly to your performance and your work is visible from day one, we'd love to meet you. Why DeckTech? Work directly with leadership Get hands-on experience across every phase of a project Build a professional project management portfolio Develop skills that accelerate your career Join a team committed to continuous improvement Be part of a company with ambitious growth goals Make a meaningful impact on every homeowner you serve Join a team that's building more than decks and porches; we're building a brand, a reputation, and a future. We'd love for you to help build it with us.
