Job Description
Interior Design Project Manager Ruskin Design is seeking an experienced Interior Design Project Manager to help lead creative commercial workplace projects from design development through to completion. This role will manage 5-10 active projects at a time, ranging from 2,000 - 20,000 sq ft office buildouts, reporting directly to the Principal Designer and coordinating closely with the Operations Manager. This is a hands-on role for someone who is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented,who understands both the creative and operational sides of interior design and can confidently move between clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams. Responsibilities Project Management Conduct site walkthroughs with Designer, Contractors and Clients Review drawings, specifications, finish selections, furniture plans, and vendor proposals for accuracy and implementation. Develop and maintain project calendars, budgets, and task lists. Identify potential issues early and develop practical solutions to keep projects moving. Maintain project files and documentation. Construction + Installation Coordinate with building management, contractors, vendors, and other consultants. Request and review quotes, confirm pricing and lead times, track deliveries. Track punch-list items through their completion, and resolve issues related to damaged, delayed, or incorrect items. Support and manage furniture installations and final project styling, ensure the finished space reflects the design intent. Client Communication Serve as a reliable day-to-day point of contact for clients. Communicate project updates, decisions, deadlines, and issues clearly and professionally. LOCATION
Our office is based out of Oakland, CA with clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Regular travel to project sites required.TYPE:
Part-time hourly W-2 position, with 80 hours per month anticipated to start. Hours will vary based on project needs, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role.COMPENSATION
$40/hr - $60/hr, based on experience.START DATE
Immediately Qualifications 5+ years of experience in commercial interior design, architecture, project management, or a related field. Strong understanding of furniture, finishes, materials, procurement, and construction. Excellent time-management, and written/verbal communication skills. Ability to independently identify problems and take initiative to solve them. Proficiency with Google Workspace, Adobe Suite and task management software. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work after hours and weekends with advance notice. The Ideal Candidate You are someone who can move comfortably between design and execution - reviewing a furniture quote in the morning, troubleshooting a contractor issue in the afternoon, and updating a client before the end of the day. You are organized without being rigid, willing to be an integral part of a team, and comfortable taking ownership of a project. You know when to make a decision independently and when to bring an issue to the team. Most importantly, you understand that great design is ultimately about creating spaces that work beautifully for the people who use them.
