With over 150 people, BLVD Electric Inc. is a leading commercial electrical contractor working across California. Our teams are active in commercial buildings, ground-up construction, tenant improvements, hospitality, retail, fitness, multifamily, infrastructure, power distribution, lighting, controls, data pathways, service upgrades, underground, rough-in, gear, panels, equipment connections, and large-scale electrical installations. This role is ideal for someone with construction experience who understands the flow of project documentation, field coordination, communication, and follow-up. The right candidate will work closely with Project Managers, field supervisors, general contractors, vendors, engineers, accounting, and internal departments to help keep projects organized and moving forward. This is not a basic administrative position. We need someone who can understand project requirements, track multiple open items, communicate professionally, recognize potential cost or schedule impacts, and consistently follow through until each item is resolved. The right candidate should be able to review an email, drawing note, submittal comment, RFI response, field request, or project update and help determine what needs to happen next, who needs to respond, what information is missing, and what needs to be tracked so it does not fall through the cracks. Position Overview The Assistant Project Manager will provide direct support to assigned Project Managers throughout the planning, execution, and closeout phases of commercial electrical construction projects. This position will help organize project information, prepare and track project documentation, communicate with internal and external project teams, coordinate material and equipment requirements, maintain accurate logs, and follow up on outstanding items. The ideal candidate should understand construction project flow, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, project correspondence, scheduling, inspections, punch-list items, billing documentation, closeout documentation, and communication with general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, field personnel, and internal teams. What You Will Do Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide direct project coordination and administrative support to assigned Project Managers. Help track open project items, pending follow-ups, deadlines, required responses, and project deliverables. Review project emails and help identify action items, missing information, responsibilities, and next steps. Coordinate with Project Managers, field supervisors, foremen, general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal staff. Prepare, submit, distribute, and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, project correspondence, and project logs. Maintain accurate RFI, submittal, change order, procurement, and closeout logs. Help organize project files so drawings, specifications, correspondence, approvals, and revisions are current and easy to locate. Assist with preparing meeting notes, action-item lists, follow-up emails, project status reports, and internal updates. Track material approvals, purchase orders, fabrication requirements, long-lead items, delivery dates, and field needs. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding pricing, submittals, lead times, delivery schedules, and outstanding documentation. Assist with reviewing drawings, specifications, addenda, bulletins, and project documents to identify coordination items and scope changes. Help prepare change order descriptions, pricing requests, backup documentation, labor information, and supporting project records. Track potential changes in scope and help ensure cost or schedule impacts are properly documented. Support communication between the office and field to help keep project execution organized. Help coordinate manpower needs, project schedules, inspections, shutdowns, deliveries, and field activities. Assist with project billing documentation, schedule-of-values information, change order billing, and other accounting coordination. Track punch-list items, warranty items, closeout documents, as-built drawings, operation manuals, testing reports, and final completion requirements. Help ensure the field team is working from the most current drawings, revisions, approved submittals, and project information. Follow up consistently to ensure important project items do not fall through the cracks. Perform occasional project-site visits or attend project meetings when required. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who: Has prior construction experience and understands the general flow of a construction project. Is highly organized and able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and follow-ups at once. Is comfortable communicating with general contractors, Project Managers, field teams, vendors, engineers, and office staff. Can take rough direction and turn it into a clear email, tracking log, action list, RFI, submittal, change order description, or follow-up item. Understands RFIs, submittals, change orders, drawings, specifications, project correspondence, procurement, and closeout documentation. Has strong written communication skills and can prepare clean, professional project correspondence. Is proactive and does not need to be constantly reminded to follow up. Can recognize when an issue may have a cost impact, schedule impact, field impact, scope impact, or documentation requirement. Can identify what information is missing and follow up with the appropriate party. Is detail-oriented, dependable, professional, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Can manage confidential project, financial, client, and company information professionally. Is comfortable supporting multiple Project Managers and projects when required. Takes ownership of assigned items and follows them through completion. Requirements Prior construction experience is required. Prior experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, Construction Administrator, or similar role is preferred. Electrical construction experience is strongly preferred. Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, project logs, project correspondence, and closeout documentation is preferred. Ability to read construction drawings and specifications at a basic to intermediate level. Understanding of construction schedules, project deadlines, and field coordination. Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Bluebeam or Adobe PDF, and project document-management systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be organized, dependable, and able to manage follow-ups independently. Must be comfortable working in the office and supporting multiple departments when needed. Must be able to maintain accurate records and handle a high volume of project information. Must have reliable transportation for occasional project-site visits or meetings. Preferred Experience Electrical subcontractor experience. Commercial tenant improvement, retail, hospitality, office, or ground-up construction experience. Experience coordinating lighting, switchgear, electrical equipment, low voltage, fire alarm, controls, or electrical submittals. Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, PlanGrid, Accubid, or similar construction software. Experience working with general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and field teams. Experience assisting with change orders, project billing, schedule-of-values documentation, or cost tracking. Experience tracking material procurement, long-lead equipment, submittal approvals, and deliveries. Experience supporting senior Project Managers, operations managers, executives, or construction leadership. Familiarity with project closeout requirements, including as-built drawings, warranties, operation manuals, punch lists, testing documentation, and final inspections.
