Job Description

Opportunity Overview:
Metal Works is currently looking for a Project Manager (PM). The Project Manager is responsible for controlling projects from the point of award through successful completion. The Project Manager acts as the main point of contact for the general contractor at Metal Works and coordinates with the general contractor to ensure that project and fabrication deadlines are met. Our Project Managers collaborate with Production staff, keeping Production and Shipping updated on changes to delivery dates, required phasing, and jobsite delivery dates. You would facilitate the profitable performance and billing of projects and coordinate the efforts of subcontractors (detailers, erectors, decking contractors, etc.) to ensure timely completion of all work per the job schedule. The Project Manager coordinates and clarifies issues and changes through the Request for Information (RFI) process, ensuring that applicable RFI responses are forwarded to Metal Works' subcontractors for incorporation in to their work. The incumbent ensures that changes to the scope of work are captured through a subcontract change order or a notice of potential claim. Structure:
The Project Management position is located In Oroville on an 18 acre lot with newly innovated technology both in our equipment and our software systems. You would report to the Project Management Supervisor and be supported by the Project Management department team members. You would also work closely with Estimating and Production departments. The nature of this role requires that you have strong follow through, being persistent when required, and possess the ability to represent our company in a very respectful manner. You would perform these with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism. These are just a mile high view of responsibilities in this growing position.
Your Day-to-Day:
Project Management
  • Communicate through Requests For Information with the general contractor and erector regarding any issues that may affect detailing, fabrication, or erection
  • Participate in developing job schedules that denote all applicable deadlines, milestones, and completion dates .Ensure that monthly change order logs are up to date and sent to subcontractors and Metal Works' Financial Department in order to provide them with regular updates on outstanding change orders, noting the status of each as either unbilled or unpaid (by GC)
  • Receive direction to proceed in an appropriate fashion from an authorized individual before directing the performance of work
  • Coordinate and chair post project review meetings to discuss and evaluate projects after erection is completed Financial Duties
  • Ensure that all monthly billings are compiled, accurate, and transmitted to Metal Works' Financial Department on time as dictated by project requirements
  • Ensure the supervision and control of all project documents, including a master list of current revision releases, and storage of said control documents in the Document Library (Tekla)
  • Validate, approve, or deny subcontractor progress invoicing and change order billings
  • Inform Metal Works' Financial Department when to bill (on approved GC External) invoices and when to pay internal change orders and back charges
  • Inform subcontractors when to invoice for worked performed on a project, as well as on internal back charges and approved portions of GC external change orders Detailing Coordination
  • Upon award of project to the detailer, provide complete purchase order information then issue a purchase order or subcontract to detailer
  • Serve as point of contact for the detailer throughout project duration
  • Ensure that communications between the detailer and General Contractor are coordinated through Metal Works
  • Ensure that any in-house or subcontracted detailers complete drawings per plan and Metal Works' scope of work; coordinate discrepancies between fabrication drawings and contract drawings with the detailer to ensure that the finished product is fabricated per plan Document Control
  • Direct MIS Department on Document Control
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of an active change order log denoting change order number, date sent, response date, direction received, and other pertinent information
  • Ensure that when revised design drawings are issued, forward copies to the detailer with a transmittal including new current design set report
  • Ensure that the Request For Information (RFI) Log for each project is properly maintained
  • Ensure the proper review of revised detail drawings and revision of BOM for revised drawings
  • Ensure that each design drawing, including revision and date, addenda, and specifications are into the Document Library (Tekla)
  • Project Manager will, as required, forward RFI responses to detailer as their control document status
  • Ensure the release of detail drawings designated for fabrication and relay to the Structural Supervisor any special phasing requirements Fabrication Processes Control
  • Quality Assurance and Project Manager will determine the shop coat requirements based on the contract documents
  • Prior to the start of any job the Project Manager shall participate in the deliberation and creation of a project schedule Shipping
  • Project Manager will inform the Structural Supervisor in writing as to which job number, phase of project, and delivery date required by General Contractor What You Bring to the
Team:
  • Experience working in manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to quickly write emails, business letters, and project update reports
  • Knowledge of typical project management techniques and best practices; ability to concurrently manage multiple workflows and communication chains
  • Advanced knowledge of construction plans, prints, and the successful interpretation thereof
  • Ability to work productively and maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Intimate familiarity with construction processes and procurement; experience with structural steel construction a plus
  • Strong follow through from the beginning and the completion of all projects
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams)
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as across the organization.
  • Judgement and decision-making, solid subjective abilities
  • Have the ability to take initiative.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-5 years PM experience desired.
  • Degree or studies in Construction Management
  • Proficient skillset in grammar and typing
