Project Manager Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead civil engineering and site development projects from planning through construction. The Project Manager will oversee commercial, roadway, utilities, grading, and DOT-related work, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, client-facing skills, and technical knowledge of civil site development and construction management.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage multiple civil/site development projects including commercial, roadway, utilities, grading, and DOT-driven jobs from pre-design through construction closeout. Serve as primary client contact; build and maintain strong client relationships and ensure clear communication of project scope, progress, risks, and deliverables. Develop, monitor, and control project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource allocations to achieve on-time, on-budget delivery. Coordinate and collaborate with internal design teams, engineers, inspectors, contractors, surveyors, and local agencies (including DOT) to resolve technical and permitting issues. Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, change orders, and submittals; ensure compliance with contract requirements and regulatory standards. Oversee construction administration activities including site inspections, progress reporting, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and safety compliance. Manage procurement and subcontractor selection, negotiate scopes, schedules, and pricing, and monitor subcontractor performance. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; implement corrective actions and document lessons learned. Lead proposal development, cost estimates, and project planning efforts to support business development and contract acquisition. Mentor and develop project staff, assign responsibilities, and foster a collaborative, safety-focused team environment.
Qualifications:
5+ years of progressive experience in civil construction, site development, or construction management with demonstrated project management responsibilities. Proven experience with DOT projects, roadway design/construction, utilities, grading, and commercial site development. Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, local permitting processes, construction methods, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, and change orders.
