The Fordy Group is partnering with a leading heavy civil and utility contractor to hire an experienced Assistant Project Manager for their Utility Division in Atlanta, GA. Role Overview The Assistant Project Manager will support the planning, coordination, execution, and financial management of utility construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, engineers, suppliers, and clients, this role will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. Key Responsibilities Support Project Managers with utility construction projects from preconstruction through closeout Assist with project budgets, schedules, contracts, cost tracking, and forecasting Coordinate with Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, engineers, suppliers, and clients Monitor project progress and assist with identifying and resolving project issues Review plans, specifications, contracts, and construction documents Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation Participate in project meetings and maintain strong communication with project stakeholders Track project costs, schedules, materials, and overall progress Help ensure projects meet safety, quality, schedule, and contractual requirements Support the Project Manager and field team throughout project execution Candidate Profile Previous experience in utility, heavy civil, or underground construction Experience with water, sewer, stormwater, pipeline, or other utility projects Experience supporting project budgets, schedules, contracts, and project documentation Familiarity with excavation, trenching, grading, sitework, and utility installation Experience with DOT, municipal, public infrastructure, or other civil projects preferred Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and contract documents Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively with field teams, subcontractors, clients, engineers, and project stakeholders Strong commitment to safety, quality, and successful project delivery Benefits & Opportunities Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses Medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with company match Generous paid time off and holidays Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Collaborative, safety-driven culture Long-term career growth and development opportunities
