Job Description

Salary of $50,000+, market-leading profit-sharing package, full benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement, and up to $5,000 signing bonus. Iowa Home Consulting is looking for an experienced, well-rounded Remodeler to join our remodeling team. This isn't a position for someone who only wants to show up, complete one trade, and leave. Our Remodelers take ownership of the projects assigned to them. You'll receive a prepared project from our Remodeling Coordinator, then become the primary person responsible for executing the work, communicating with the homeowner, maintaining the jobsite, and carrying the project through completion. We work on a wide variety of residential remodeling projects throughout Central Iowa, including kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks, carpentry, flooring, drywall, finish work, and other interior and exterior improvements. What You'll Do Complete residential remodeling projects from start through final punch-list items Perform skilled work across multiple trades, including carpentry, drywall, flooring, doors, trim, cabinetry, decking, and general residential construction Review the project scope, materials, schedule, and job information provided by the Remodeling Coordinator before beginning work Take ownership of the project once it is assigned to you Communicate directly and professionally with homeowners throughout the active project Keep clients informed of daily progress, upcoming work, questions, and anything that may affect their project Identify scope questions, unforeseen conditions, material needs, or potential change orders before moving forward Coordinate with the Remodeling Coordinator when scheduling, material, staffing, or project-level support is needed Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite Protect the client's home and belongings throughout the project Complete work according to IHC quality standards rather than simply working toward the fastest possible finish Document project progress, photos, notes, and important information through our internal systems Perform final quality checks and address punch-list items before project completion Help less-experienced team members develop their skills when working together What We're Looking For Strong residential remodeling or construction experience Broad hands-on knowledge across multiple residential trades Strong carpentry and finish-work skills Ability to read and work from written scopes, plans, measurements, and project information Ability to troubleshoot unexpected conditions and make sound field decisions Confidence working independently without needing constant supervision Strong communication skills with homeowners Professionalism inside occupied homes Good organization and time-management skills Attention to detail and pride in finished work Ability to recognize when something needs to be escalated rather than making assumptions Dependable attendance and reliable transportation Valid driver's license You'll Be Successful Here If You Want responsibility rather than waiting to be told every next step Care about the client's experience as much as the construction itself Communicate problems early instead of hiding them Can move a project forward independently while still working within a larger team Take pride in leaving behind work you'd be comfortable putting your name on Understand that a clean, organized project is part of professional craftsmanship Are comfortable working on different types of residential projects rather than performing the same task every day How Our Remodeling Team Works Our remodeling operation is structured differently from a traditional construction crew. Our Remodeling Coordinator manages incoming remodeling clients, project scheduling, special material orders, team coordination, and preparation before a project reaches the field. Once a project is assigned, the Remodeler becomes the homeowner's primary day-to-day contact and owns the field execution of that project. That structure gives our Remodelers significant autonomy while still providing the scheduling, logistical, and management support needed to keep projects moving. About Iowa Home Consulting Iowa Home Consulting provides professional residential remodeling, handyman, and home improvement services throughout Central Iowa. We're building a company around dependable people, strong systems, clear communication, professional craftsmanship, and a better homeowner experience. We're looking for people who want to be trusted with meaningful responsibility and help us continue raising the standard for residential construction.
