The EV charging industry is rapidly expanding as transportation electrification accelerates nationwide. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a high-growth sector that is shaping the future of infrastructure, energy, and mobility. Position Overview The Level 1 Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing the early stages of EV charging infrastructure projects and helping move each site through utility coordination, design preparation, and commissioning. This is an entry-level project management position designed for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, able to communicate with multiple parties, and comfortable managing several projects at the same time. The Level 1 PM will work closely with internal teams, utility companies, engineers, contractors, clients, and equipment providers to make sure assigned projects continue moving forward. Key ResponsibilitiesLoad Letters Gather project electrical requirements. Prepare and submit load information required by the utility. Verify charger quantities, power requirements, and proposed electrical service information. Site Mock-Ups Create clear preliminary site layouts showing proposed charger and electrical equipment locations. Use mock-ups to communicate the proposed project with clients, utilities, engineers, and internal teams. Update mock-ups as site requirements change. Riser Diagrams Prepare preliminary electrical riser diagrams for utility and project coordination. Show the general electrical path from utility service equipment to EV charging equipment. Coordinate revisions when equipment or service requirements change. Utility Service Requests Submit new service or service-upgrade requests to the appropriate utility. Provide required project documents and information. Track utility requests and follow up on outstanding items. Maintain communication with utility planners and representatives. Commissioning Coordination Coordinate the commissioning process once charger installation is complete. Confirm required information has been submitted to the charger/network provider. Coordinate scheduling between installers, technicians, network providers, and internal teams. Track commissioning issues through completion. General Project Management Responsibilities Maintain accurate project files, notes, and status updates. Keep assigned projects moving and follow up on outstanding tasks. Communicate project updates, delays, and required actions to the appropriate team members. Coordinate documentation between clients, utilities, engineers, contractors, and internal departments. Identify potential project issues early and escalate them when necessary. Manage multiple active projects while meeting deadlines. Maintain organized records of submissions, approvals, correspondence, and project documents. Preferred Qualifications Strong organizational and time-management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating with clients, contractors, engineers, and utility representatives. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Basic understanding of construction or electrical projects preferred. Experience with EV charging infrastructure, electrical utilities, construction, or project coordination is a plus. Comfortable learning electrical drawings, site plans, riser diagrams, and utility documentation. Proficiency with common office and project-management software. What Success Looks Like A successful Level 1 PM keeps projects organized, communicates consistently, follows up without needing constant direction, and ensures that load letters, mock-ups, riser diagrams, utility service requests, and commissioning requirements are completed accurately and on time. This position serves as the foundation for advancement into a Level 2 Project Manager role, where responsibilities expand into areas such as permitting, site visits, and additional project coordination.
