Job Description
The University of Missouri's NextGen Precision Health Initiative is seeking a highly motivated and organized Program/Project Support Coordinator II to support the development, coordination, and implementation of research, educational, and professional development programs that advance the Initiative's strategic mission. The successful candidate will serve as a key contributor to cross-disciplinary research activities, trainee development programs, educational initiatives, and stakeholder engagement efforts that foster collaboration across the University of Missouri System and external partners. This position will coordinate research-related programs and events, support the NextGen Postdoctoral Fellows Program, facilitate collaborative research initiatives, assist with budget monitoring, and ensure compliance with university policies and applicable regulations. The Research Specialist II will work closely with faculty, trainees, leadership, and external partners to promote innovative research and educational opportunities within precision health. Essential Functions
Coordinate and implement research and professional development programs supporting graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research trainees.
Facilitate collaborative research initiatives by coordinating activities among faculty, researchers, academic units, and external stakeholders.
Plan and manage educational seminars, workshops, research symposia, and special events, including logistics, scheduling, communications, and evaluation metrics.
Support recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and programmatic activities associated with the NextGen Postdoctoral Fellows Program.
Develop and maintain relationships with university departments, community organizations, educational partners, and external collaborators to promote research engagement opportunities.
Monitor program budgets, track expenditures, prepare financial reports, and assist with fiscal planning activities.
Collect, analyze, and report program metrics to assess outcomes and support strategic decision-making.
Ensure compliance with university, sponsor, state, and federal requirements applicable to research and educational programming.
Provide guidance and support to students, trainees, and project participants while serving as a resource regarding program policies and procedures.
Prepare reports, presentations, and communications for leadership and stakeholders.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Shift
8:00 to 5:00 p.m. occasional nights and weekends
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting academic research programs, research administration, research development, or educational initiatives in a higher education or healthcare environment.
Experience coordinating programs involving faculty, researchers, trainees, or external stakeholders.
Experience with event planning, project management, or program administration.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data and prepare reports to support program evaluation.
Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Experience working across multiple departments and managing competing priorities.
Knowledge of university research operations, compliance requirements, and budget management practices.
