Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead hospital and clinic healthcare projects requiring HCAI and OSHPD compliance. The Project Director will manage complex medical facility design and construction programs, provide strategic client leadership, oversee multidisciplinary teams (including Revit-based design workflows), and drive business development in the healthcare sector. This role combines technical expertise in OSHPD and HCAI processes with strong project leadership and client relationship management to ensure successful delivery of safe, code-compliant healthcare facilities.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage multiple healthcare projects from pre-design through construction closeout, ensuring compliance with HCAI and OSHPD requirements.

Serve as primary client contact and project evangelist, building long-term relationships and identifying opportunities for continued engagement and business development.

Oversee design teams, consultants, and contractors, coordinating Revit-based production and BIM workflows to maintain design quality, schedule, and budget.

Provide strategic direction on hospital and clinic programming, operational planning, patient flow, and clinical adjacency to meet medical facility requirements.

Manage project budgets, schedules, risk registers, and contract administration; proactively resolve issues to keep projects on track.

Coordinate with regulatory authorities, prepare and submit
HCAI/OSHPD
documentation, and guide projects through plan review and approval processes.

Mentor and develop project leadership staff, including Associate Principals and Project Managers, promoting best practices in healthcare project delivery.

Lead pursuit and proposal efforts for new healthcare work, including proposal development, presentations, and pursuit strategy in coordination with principals and business development teams.

Ensure adherence to quality assurance, safety, and infection control standards throughout design and construction phases.

Represent the firm at industry and stakeholder meetings, and provide subject matter expertise on healthcare facility planning and regulatory compliance.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum 12+ years of progressive experience managing healthcare facility projects, with demonstrated Project Director or Principal-level responsibility.

Extensive experience with HCAI and OSHPD processes, including successful submittals and approvals on hospital and clinic projects.

Proficiency with Revit and BIM coordination in a production environment; experience implementing Revit standards and workflows across teams.

Strong knowledge of hospital systems, clinical planning, medical equipment coordination, and infection control principles.

Proven business development track record in the healthcare sector, including client relationship management and pursuit leadership.

Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to mentor staff, manage multidisciplinary teams, and lead complex project deliveries.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for interactions with clients, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders.

California registration or licensure (Architect or Professional Engineer) preferred; OSHPD certification/capability evidence a plus.

Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
