JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for all aspects of assigned projects from inception through completion; managing small to medium-sized projects. Work directly w/ engineering & design, procurement, fabrication, quality, safety, project controls, document control, accounting, & construction mgmt groups. Complete tasks assigned by Director of Project Management (DPM) according to client & company specs & contractual scope of work. Perform all stages of project mgmt from contract signature to project completion.
JOB DUTIES
Direct & lead team on assigned projects. Analyze project data & initiate solutions/implement recovery plans to maintain budget/schedule. Make project decisions necessary to meet project budget & schedule. Monitor project processes to expedite bottlenecked areas in all phases of workflow. Track down details to directly address customer & internal generated RFIs that can be time sensitive in nature. Review & implement terms & conditions in project contracts (client, vendor, contractors & other third-party providers) to confirm compliance. Work w/ DPM to monitor project schedule, budget & cash flow reports, generated by the Project Controls group, for undesirable trends; report such findings to the DPM including well-reasoned recommendations for resolution. Provide engineering & documentation support for plans, schedules, reports, evaluations, documentation & troubleshooting for assigned projects. Maintain knowledge about project mgmt software, codes, standards & processes required by the company, client & federal, state & local agencies. Schedule & lead/host project coordination meetings w/ project participants, client representatives, contractors, & vendors, w/ direct interface w/ customers; steward the conversation to keep all parties on track regarding scope. Develop ability to recognize internal or external lingering issues that prevent the progression of the project & move swiftly to a resolution. Develop project plans to exec. own projects. Document project-related activities & decisions in writing. Identify scope deviations & develop well-written change order documents for customer approval. Mitigate project risks & exercise project mgmt maturity by avoiding implementation of extra scope without prior written authorization. On call/OT availability incl on evenings/weekends as needed to support project during time-sensitive activities (e.g. commissioning & startup). Requires communication skills. May undergo background checks incl ref checks, drug screen, credit checks, Motor Vehicle Record check. Little national travel to customer plant/project sites & fabrication shops may be involved, to visit clients, attend conferences, & monitor project phases. Travel up to 60 days/year & length of single trip 5-10 days. Site visits generally require traversing uneven terrain & potential hazards of active construction areas. Must have Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical) or related technical field; 3 years relevant experience executing capital projects; and required skills (3 years exp) in: Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project).
