An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work on site. 7.5 hours/day This position specifically needs: Experience with school theaters, auditoriums, or performing arts centers preferred. Minimum of 6 years of project management experience specializing in theatrical production spaces, stage construction, or performance venues.
Job Summary:
This position facilitates and coordinates the activities of design professionals, consultants, contractors and various maintenance shops in alteration and renovation projects in the Prince William County School System. This position performs work under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Projects, Permits, and Records. Essential Responsibilities - specific to this job Assigns construction alteration and renovation projects within Projects, Permits, and Records in the Facilities Department Provides a full range of support for construction projects from conception to completion Coordinates construction activities around the needs of the schools, students, and staff Implements components of the 7/14-year major maintenance program Plans, schedules, and inspects the work of subordinates or contractors, coordinates with school principals and maintenance shops Visits project sites to examine existing conditions, gathers data, and takes measurements to facilitate project design and to assess possible environmental hazards associated with any assigned project Assembles bid packages, reviews bid documents, and works with the Finance Department in bid process Attends, coordinates, and leads pre-bid, pre-construction, and progress meetings, reviews proposed change orders along with architects and engineers Performs quality assurance inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and applicable building codes, using necessary test equipment and collected data to ensure compliance Keeps thorough, accurate written daily inspection reports Develops and maintains a systematic document management plan until project is complete, and records have been incorporated into the Facilities Department Records Center Develops and conveys drawing modifications for construction or equipment changes to be incorporated into as-built drawings kept by the Facilities Records Center Estimates work costs, both time and materials, and maintains work records and prepares reports as required Coordinates construction problems with contractors during construction and warranty periods Provides direct communication between contractors, Facilities staff, engineering staff, and school personnel Introduces innovations to the department consistent with the latest available equipment and techniques Attends classes to continuously improve knowledge Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors Thorough knowledge in Federal, State, and Local building codes applicable to construction, general building maintenance, and mechanical systems Considerable knowledge in the basic principles and practices of engineering, architecture, mechanical maintenance, and construction operations Working knowledge of general safety compliance, to include confined space entry Ability to prepare specifications and other related engineering documents and ensure contractor's compliance Ability to show fiscal responsibility in the best interest of the Division Ability to understand, edit, and work from blueprints and schematics Ability to ascertain necessary work and follow through to successful conclusion Ability to maintain records and prepare reports of work performed Ability to use computer for communication, work order processing, and ordering supplies or materials Education Requirement Minimum of a High School or GED plus successful completion of college-level engineering, architectural, or environmental courses preferred. Work Experience Requirement Minimum of six years of experience in general maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of four years of progressively more responsible experience in engineering design, mechanical maintenance operations, construction project management and inspections.
