Position:
The Manager in Training (MIT) program is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals seeking to build a long-term career in residential property management, progressing into property management leadership and building toward a future General Manager position. Working alongside an experienced property team, the MIT gains hands-on experience in property operations, resident services, financial administration, compliance, and office management while developing the skills necessary for future advancement. The program provides structured training, mentorship, and practical exposure to the day-to-day management of a residential community. Candidates must meet all Picerne Residential hiring criteria and demonstrate a background compatible with The Picerne Group's culture, goals, and values.
LOCATION
This position is required to be onsite full time at One Uptown, 4201 Jamboree Rd, Newport Beach, CA 92660. Weekend availability required
Key Position Responsibilities:
Assist with property administrative support and day-to-day office operations. Handle resident feedback and complaints, prepare resident incident reports, and work with the property team to identify appropriate solutions. Report and document lease violations. Initiate Self-Guided Tours for the property. Conduct Guided Tours and assist prospects as aligned with the General Manager. Handle package delivery and other high-touch Resident Relations responsibilities as needed. Maintain knowledge of resident services, hours of operation, in-house events, property amenities, directions, and other community information. Handle the resident move-out process, including: Prepare, serve, and maintain records for required resident notices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures. Conduct move-out inspections, complete thorough documentation, coordinate resident move-outs, and prepare final security deposit accounting. Communicate with former residents regarding move-out balances, payment arrangements, collections-related matters, and account disputes in a professional and customer-focused manner. Prepare and submit reports associated with monthly accounting and operational processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion prior to month-end closing. Create and build a strong Picerne Resident Experience brand that supports the property team and fosters exceptional resident relationships to encourage resident retention. Handle day-to-day resident relations activities that support a luxury lifestyle experience. Support the Sales team throughout the leasing process as needed. Assist with special projects and other property management duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-changing environment. Strong mathematical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to create, maintain, and analyze spreadsheets and reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to professionally handle difficult conversations. Excellent interpersonal skills. Positive, can-do attitude. A team player who is resourceful and self-motivated, with the ability to learn on the job through colleagues and technical resources and, likewise, pass learned techniques on to others. Ability to effectively follow up on outstanding balances, payment arrangements, and collections-related matters while maintaining a positive customer service approach. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and responsibilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive resident and financial information. Knowledge of Yardi and other related residential software applications is preferred but not required. Schedule & Availability Weekend availability is required. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as business needs may occasionally require participation in resident events, property activations, training, or other operational activities outside of the standard work schedule. Professional Development The Manager in Training position is intended to provide exposure to multiple areas of residential property management while progressively increasing responsibility as knowledge and proficiency are demonstrated. Successful MITs will have the opportunity to develop competencies in resident relations, financial administration, collections, leasing, compliance, property operations, team collaboration, decision-making, and leadership, establishing a foundation for advancement into property management leadership and, ultimately, a future General Manager position.
