This is a non-housing position; employer-provided housing is not included. 6 Star Management is seeking a Assistant Property Manager to join the onsite team at The SLO in San Luis Obispo, California, a 91-unit community. This position plays a key role in assisting with administrative, operational, and resident-facing responsibilities that support the overall success of the property. The Assistant Property Manager will work closely with the Property Manager and help manage administrative duties that may require consistent follow-through due to the broader operational demands of the Property Manager role. This position will also carry minor supervisory responsibilities, including helping support day-to-day team coordination, reinforcing expectations, and assisting with operational follow-up as directed. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, service-driven, and capable of balancing administrative responsibilities with resident support and junior-level leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the daily operations of the property by assisting the Property Manager with administrative, resident service, and operational tasks
  • Handle administrative responsibilities that require consistent follow-through and support, particularly in areas where the Property Manager may be focused on broader operational, staffing, or property oversight matters
  • Use AppFolio to manage resident files, notices, work orders, communication logs, leasing activity, reports, and general property administration
  • Assist with processing applications, move-ins, move-outs, renewals, notices, resident correspondence, and other property-related documentation
  • Maintain accurate and organized resident, leasing, and operational records in AppFolio and other company systems as required
  • Respond to residents' questions, concerns, and requests in a timely, professional, and courteous manner, and escalate matters as appropriate
  • Support rent collection efforts, delinquency follow-up, notices, and related administrative processes in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Assist with scheduling, tracking, and follow-up of service requests and work orders to help ensure timely completion and communication with residents
  • Coordinate with the Property Manager, maintenance team, vendors, and residents to support efficient property operations
  • Help monitor vacant unit status, unit turn progress, and readiness for incoming residents
  • Support leasing and occupancy efforts by assisting with inquiries, appointments, applications, follow-up, and resident retention efforts, as needed
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, files, and other administrative materials for the Property Manager and company leadership as needed
  • Conduct property walkthroughs and help identify operational, maintenance, cleanliness, or appearance-related concerns for follow-up
  • Provide junior-level support to onsite team operations by helping reinforce procedures, assisting with task follow-up, and helping maintain day-to-day accountability as directed by the Property Manager
  • Help support the coordination of onsite staff activities and serve as a point of contact in the Property Manager's absence, within the scope of assigned authority
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and service-oriented attitude when interacting with residents, team members, vendors, and the general public
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of property operations and business needs.
Key Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in property management, leasing, administration, or a related field preferred
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience using property management software, such as AppFolio, for resident accounts, leasing activity, work order tracking, notices, reporting, and documentation preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with residents, coworkers, vendors, and management
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to handle resident interactions with professionalism, sound judgment, and follow-through
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, handle sensitive information appropriately, and complete administrative tasks efficiently
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to take direction, help coordinate team follow-through, and support minor supervisory functions in a professional manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced setting
  • Dependable attendance, professionalism, and a service-oriented approach
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required based on business needs Additional Requirements (Education, Training, and Experience):
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience in property management, leasing, office administration, or a related field preferred
Pay:

$55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
