is the regional domestic violence shelter and program serving Warren County and 9-surrounding counties. This position is responsible for safety, operations and client services during third shift, typically 9 pm to 7 am. Applicants who are unable to work a third-shift schedule will not be considered. The Crisis Intervention Advocate is a full-time evening, and weekend position. The Crisis Intervention Advocate is responsible for answering the 24-hour crisis line, providing crisis intervention, and appropriate referrals. The person in this position is under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services. Who are we? We are the regional Domestic Violence Shelter & Program serving the BRADD region, consisting of Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, and Warren counties. Our agency consists of three major departments. Our outreach program assists survivors in court hearings and in individual counseling sessions. Our housing department assists survivors in their search for permanent housing and supports them in their transition to self-sufficiency. Our shelter, or residential services, is the most robust of our three major departments. While all advocates in our shelter contribute to case management services for clients fleeing Domestic Violence, including intake procedures and paperwork, assessments, referral to outside services and addressing urgent physical needs, advocates are also responsible for the upkeep of the shelter household needs. Household responsibilities include cleaning bedrooms for incoming clients, assisting in washing house laundry such as bath towels and bedding (does not include residents' laundry), cooking meals for residents of the shelter, and managing grocery and food stock. The mission of the Barren River area Safe Space, Inc is provide safety and support to victims of domestic violence and their children and empower them with opportunities that lead to self-sufficiency. We educate our community about domestic violence to help identify and spark change, and we advocate to protect the rights of individuals so everyone in our community can be free from abuse. Victims of Crime Act The person in this position assumes programmatic and organizational responsibility for the Shelter. The position involves extensive direct interaction with residents and community contacts. The person in this position provides direct services to victims of domestic violence in a residential setting that supports a trauma informed care model. The person in this position ensures a comprehensive program that includes children's services, support groups and referrals. The Residential Services Manager is under the direction of the Director of Residential Services.
Manager duties:
1. Assign service tasks in writing to all shelter advocates on a daily basis. 2. Review residents' charts for accuracy and thoroughness of entries by all shelter staff and interns. 3. Train new staff in the areas of agency policies, procedures, trauma informed care, and daily shelter operations. 4. Coordinate services with shelter team to include intake, service planning, legal and personal advocacy, crisis intervention, and children's services. 5. Provide direction and supervision to shelter staff in absence of Director of Residential Services.
Advocacy:
6. Develop service plan to assess victims' needs and assist them in addressing service goals and objectives within a trauma informed care model. 7. Provide direct service to residents including case management. 8. Coordinate appropriate referrals for residents, and ensure accurate follow-up. 9. Answer 24-hour crisis line and provide telephone counseling and referral services. 10. Promote a safe, healing, clean, and nurturing environment for residents and their children. 11. Adhere to agency on-call policy, and be available to provide shelter coverage in the absence of regular shift coverage, to include holidays and weekend schedule. 12. Represent BRASS, Inc. at various meetings and public functions at the request of the CEO. 13. Perform all other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Administrative:
14. Monitor data collection on a weekly basis to ensure documentation of services provided to residents. 15. Participate in supervisor on-call rotation to assist staff by phone in shelter operations. 16. Report time worked and applicable activity information as required by funding sources and governmental agencies. 17. Attend all required trainings and staff meetings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years of age. Bachelor's Degree in Human Service field. Two years of experience in victim services. Commitment to adhere to Member Program Service Standards of the Kentucky Coalition against Domestic Violence. Commitment to complete required training for Certification as Domestic Violence Advocate. Commitment to obtain required continuing education credits. Completion of First Aid, CPR (Adult and Pediatric), and blood-borne Pathogen training. Valid Kentucky driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance. Submit to a criminal background check. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Schedule and Pay This position starts at $18.50 per hour plus our comprehensive benefits package. The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm. There is slight flexibility in hours based on lunch break preferences (30 minutes or 1-hour), and if the candidate has other scheduling preferences. There is a rotating on-call schedule for supervisors in the agency to provide assistance as needed to crisis response staff.
