Danville, VA Job Summary We are seeking a dependable, highly organized, and experienced Residential Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a DBHDS-licensed group home serving individuals with developmental disabilities. This is a hands-on management position . The Residential Manager will be responsible for the daily operation of the home, staff supervision, scheduling and staffing coverage, documentation, compliance, and ensuring the individuals we serve receive safe, respectful, and quality care. This position is not strictly administrative. The Residential Manager must be willing to work directly with individuals as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) when staffing needs require it. The Residential Manager will work closely with the Program Director and other management staff to coordinate management and staffing coverage. A flexible schedule, including split shifts , may be required. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned group home. Supervise, support, and provide direction to residential staff. Assist with staff scheduling and maintain appropriate staffing coverage. Coordinate with the Program Director and other managers to ensure management coverage. Step in and provide DSP/direct-care coverage when needed. Support individuals with activities of daily living, personal care, meals, appointments, transportation, and community activities. Ensure services and supports are provided according to each individual's Individual Service Plan (ISP) and related support guidelines. Maintain familiarity with each individual's ISP, goals, needs, risks, preferences, and required supports. Ensure staff understand and follow applicable ISP requirements. Monitor and document progress toward individual goals and required services. Assist with the preparation, coordination, and planning of quarterly reviews . Participate in quarterly review meetings and provide relevant information regarding the individual's progress, services, needs, and changes. Assist with gathering documentation and information needed for ISP development, updates, and reviews. Communicate changes in an individual's needs, behavior, health, or services to the appropriate members of the individual's support team. Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and on time. Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, guidance, and corrective feedback when appropriate. Assist with staff training and team meetings. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and supportive home environment. Monitor household supplies, food, medications, and other necessary resources. Address staff call-outs, scheduling issues, and day-to-day operational concerns. Communicate regularly with the Program Director regarding staffing, individuals served, incidents, and operational needs. Ensure compliance with DBHDS requirements, company policies, and established procedures. Report incidents, injuries, medication errors, safety concerns, and other required events according to applicable requirements. Participate in inspections, audits, investigations, and quality assurance activities as needed. Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established emergency procedures. Applicants must be able to provide proof of previous management or supervisory experience . This may include previous employment as a Residential Manager, House Manager, Program Manager, Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or another position involving responsibility for staff and daily operations.
Additional requirements include:
Documented previous management or supervisory experience is required. Strong organizational skills are mandatory. Familiarity with Individual Service Plans (ISPs) is required. Experience with quarterly reviews and ISP-related planning is required. Must understand the importance of following ISP requirements and ensuring staff provide services according to each individual's plan. Previous experience in a DBHDS-licensed residential setting, group home, developmental disabilities, behavioral health, or similar setting is strongly preferred. Previous DSP/direct-care experience is preferred. High school diploma or GED required. Strong communication and leadership skills. Must be dependable, responsible, and able to work independently. Must be willing to work hands-on with individuals and provide DSP coverage when needed. Must successfully complete required background checks and employment screening. Must complete all required DBHDS and company training. Must have reliable personal transportation. Must have a valid driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance. Must be willing and able to use their personal vehicle for work-related transportation as needed. Basic computer and documentation skills required. ISP & Quarterly Review Responsibilities The Residential Manager will play an active role in ensuring services are provided according to each individual's Individual Service Plan (ISP) .
Responsibilities include:
Reviewing and maintaining familiarity with current ISPs. Ensuring staff understand individual goals, support needs, restrictions, and required services. Monitoring staff implementation of ISP requirements. Maintaining accurate documentation related to services and individual progress. Assisting with gathering information and documentation for ISP meetings and updates. Assisting with the planning and preparation of quarterly reviews . Participating in quarterly review meetings as requested. Providing accurate information regarding individual progress, challenges, changes in needs, and services provided. Communicating relevant information to the Program Director and appropriate members of the individual's support team. Following up on action items and recommendations resulting from ISP meetings and quarterly reviews. Vehicle Requirement The Residential Manager must have reliable personal transportation , a valid driver's license, and proof of current automobile insurance. The employee must be willing to use their personal vehicle for work-related needs when necessary , which may include transporting individuals, attending appointments, picking up supplies, completing errands, or addressing other operational needs of the home. Schedule This position requires flexibility based on the needs of the home. The Residential Manager may be required to work: Morning, afternoon, or evening shifts Split shifts Weekends and holidays DSP shifts when coverage is needed Occasional after-hours support for urgent operational matters The Residential Manager will coordinate with the Program Director and other management staff to maintain appropriate coverage.
