Job Description

Yakima Valley Libraries is excited to announce an opening for a part-time (25 hours a week) Community Library Supervisor II (bilingual English/Spanish required) position at our Granger Community Library. This position is responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating public service delivery in a small to mid-sized YVL location. The role ensures optimal library operations and services responsive to community needs, contributes to the Library's strategic direction, and collaborates with colleagues across YVL. The Granger Library is open Monday thru Friday 1 to 6 pm. The ideal candidate should be able to work during this time frame to meet the needs of the library, but the exact schedule will be coordinated with the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Intellectual Freedom:

Leadership and Team Support:
Provides guidance, leadership, and support to employees within the assigned location.
Library Operations Management:
Manages and improves library operations, programs, services, and facilities to ensure optimal service delivery.
Staff Management and Development :
Oversees the selection, orientation, scheduling, assignments, and performance management of location staff.
Strategic Planning and Collaboration:
Collaborates with YVL colleagues and the Regional Library Manager to develop and communicate the library's vision and strategic priorities.
Community Relationship Building:
Builds and maintains strong relationships with local organizations in collaboration with the Regional Library Manager and the Community Engagement & Impact Manager.
Training and Development Oversight:
Ensures the development and training of staff to optimize service delivery, working closely with the Public Services Manager.
Budget Monitoring and Financial Procedures:
Monitors assigned budgets and prepares deposits according to library policies and procedures.
Facility Safety and Maintenance:
Ensures that facilities are safe, welcoming, and healthy for both staff and patrons.
Reference and Advisory Services:
Assists with and oversees the provision of reference and reader's advisory services to the public.
Collection Management:
Oversees the maintenance and development of the library's collection in collaboration with the Collection Development & Circulation Manager.
Complaint Resolution:
Investigates and resolves public complaints, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
Goal Setting and Progress Monitoring:
Works with the Regional Library Manager and Library Management Team to set location objectives and monitor progress toward goals.
Programming Oversight:
Oversees programming efforts within the assigned location, ensuring alignment with YVL's strategic plan.
Operations Evaluation and Reporting:
Evaluates the operations and activities of the location, recommending improvements, and preparing reports as necessary.
Technology and Facility Coordination:
Coordinates any technology or facility changes for the location in collaboration with the Regional Library Manager.
Compliance and Policy Adherence:
Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and YVL policies and procedures.
Patron Assistance and Service:
Provides direct assistance to patrons regarding the use of library materials, equipment, and services.
Confidentiality and Integrity:
Maintains the integrity of confidential information at all times. Performs additional duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or two years of college. Two years of l ibrary or general clerical experience, including public service experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR PREFERENCE S
Washington driver's license. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required

Library Operations Knowledge :
Familiarity with public library policies, procedures, and systems.
Leadership and Supervision :
Ability to effectively supervise staff and manage library operations.
Communication and Collaboration :
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with staff and community partners.
Strategic Planning :
Experience with goal setting, project management, and program evaluation.
Customer Service :
Commitment to providing excellent public service and resolving issues tactfully. T echnology Proficienc y : Proficient in library computer systems, office software, and relevant technology.
Problem-Solving Skills :
Ability to analyze issues, recommend solutions, and implement changes.
Attendance and Dependability :
Consistently attend work and perform duties reliably. These competencies highlight the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role, focusing on key areas essential for success in the position.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
