Full Job Description Job Title:
Director of Public Works & Facilities Management Starting Salary:
Salary:
Grade 15•$130,000•$140,000, depending on qualifications. The Town of Weston is seeking an experienced and collaborative professional to serve as its next Director of Public Works & Facilities Management. This executive leadership position is responsible for overseeing the Town's public works and facilities operations, including infrastructure maintenance, capital improvement projects, fleet and equipment management, transfer station operations, emergency response, and long-range planning. Reporting to the Town Administrator, the Director leads a team of 15 employees and oversees contractors providing specialized municipal services, including the Town's drinking water systems. The Director works closely with Town leadership, boards, commissions, regulatory agencies, contractors, and the public to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of Weston's infrastructure and public facilities.
Overall Responsibilities Include:
Directing public works and facilities operations, maintenance, and capital projects Managing department personnel, budgets, and labor relations Overseeing roads, drainage systems, snow and ice operations, and infrastructure projects Supervising Town-owned buildings, equipment, generators, and communication systems Coordinating emergency response operations and contractor/vendor services Ensuring compliance with DEEP, EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements Serving as Recycling Coordinator and overseeing transfer station operations Collaborating with Town departments, boards, commissions, and the public on Town initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, engineering, construction management, business administration, or a closely related field Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in public works and/or facilities management Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience Strong leadership, project management, budgeting, and communication skills Experience with municipal operations, infrastructure management, emergency response coordination, and capital project oversight preferred Valid motor vehicle operator's license required A master's degree in civil or environmental engineering, business or construction management, public administration, or a closely related field may substitute for one additional year of experience
