PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

The City of Glasco is seeking a dependable, motivated, and organized individual to serve as Public Works Director. This is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the City's public works operations and maintaining essential City infrastructure and services. The Public Works Director will oversee and coordinate the maintenance and operation of the

City's:

Water system

• Wastewater/sewer system
• Electrical system
• Streets and alleys
• Sanitation Services
• City pool
• Cemetery
• City buildings, grounds, equipment & vehicles.

The position is responsible for supervising public works team, planning and prioritizing work, coordinating projects and repairs, maintaining equipment and supplies, responding to emergencies, completing required reports and regulatory paperwork, and communicating needs and recommendations to the Mayor and City Council. The Director will attend City Council meetings and other meetings as needed and will work closely with City employees, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the public. The successful candidate should have strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies. Public works, utility, construction, mechanical, maintenance, or supervisory experience is preferred. Municipal experience is helpful but not required. A valid driver's license is required, CDL preferred, but not required. The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Kansas Class I Water Operator certification and Small Systems Wastewater certification within one year of hire, subject to applicable certification requirements. The position involves hands-on maintenance and equipment operation as well as supervisory and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate must be dependable, willing to work as part of a team, and available to respond to emergencies and weather-related situations when necessary.

Schedule:

Full-time; rotating weekend chores paid as overtime ( 2hrs/day), and emergency response when necessary paid as overtime. Candidates must live within a 20 minute drive of Glasco City Limits.
