Job Description

Instruction & Curriculum-Deliver instruction aligned to the MA DESE Chapter 74 Criminal Justice Frameworks, including: Foundations of criminal justice systemsConstitutional law and civil rightsLaw enforcement proceduresCourt systems and legal processesCorrections and rehabilitationEthics and professional conductPublic safety operations-Employability and career readiness skills (Strands 16
  • Develop curriculum maps, scope and sequence documents, and lesson plans aligned with MA DESE Chapter 74 requirements
  • Integrate literacy, research, and analytical writing into program instruction
  • Use formative and summative assessments aligned with MA DESE Standards I-A and I-B (Curriculum, Planning, and Assessment)
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials where applicable (e.g., First Responder, CPR/AED, FEMA ICS certifications).Laboratory & Safety Management-Maintain a safe instructional environment consistent with public safety training standards
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols consistent with MA DESE Chapter 74 regulations
  • Ensure proper use and storage of training equipment
  • Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
  • Ensure compliance with all district and state safety regulations.
Student Development
  • Provide equitable access and culturally responsive instruction to all students, including students with disabilities, English learners, and historically underserved populations
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
  • Promote ethical decision-making and professionalism reflective of public service careers
  • Support student participation in SkillsUSA and leadership development opportunities
  • Supervise and evaluate students in cooperative education placements in accordance with Chapter 74 regulations (if applicable).Professional Responsibilities-Participate in Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings with law enforcement, legal, and public safety professionals
  • Collaborate with academic faculty to ensure MassCore alignment
  • Maintain required DESE documentation and Chapter 74 compliance materials
  • Engage in ongoing professional development aligned with MA DESE Standards II (Teaching All Students) and IV (Professional Culture)
  • Develop partnerships with local police departments, courts, emergency management agencies, and public safety organizations to expand work-based learning opportunities.
