Job Description

The Georgetown Water Department is accepting applications for the position of Operations Manager. The Operations Manager is the Primary Operator of Georgetown's public water supply and is responsible for supervisory and technical aspects of the construction, repair, maintenance and operation of Georgetown's water system. Primary responsibilities of the role include: Ability to work independently and as a group leader of a crew under the general guidance of the Water Department Utility Director. Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment in water treatment plant and distribution system operations and maintenance. Knowledge of water quality sampling schedules and techniques. Required to keep records, generate reports, monitor and operate the water system using SCADA and Microsoft Office products. Must be in frequent contact with the Water Office and with the public. Scheduled on call and weekend coverage is required.
Qualifications include:
High school graduate or equivalent, college degree preferred. In-depth knowledge of 310 CMR regulations for water treatment and distribution systems. Knowledge of pumping station operations, water supply and distribution systems. Exercises considerable independent judgement in water treatment plant and distribution systems operations, works independently or with other department employees, and maintains good public relations. Certified Full Grade 2T and 2D required with minimum 5 years of experience in Water Systems. Must meet MADEP requirements for PWS primary treatment operator Preferred but not required: Experience operating a Greensand WTP. Driver's license valid to operate CDL Class B motor vehicles in the State of Massachusetts Hoisting license valid to operate Class B hydraulic machinery. $44.27 - $53.86 per hour
