What You Will Do Are you ready for the challenges and rewards of an internship with Carroll County Government? The Department of Planning & Land Management is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and organized intern to gain hands-on experience in the legislative process during the Maryland General Assembly's legislative session. You will assist with reviewing newly introduced bills, tracking relevant legislation and amendments, and identifying potential impacts on the Department's programs and operations. You may also conduct research, help develop recommendations, and assist with processing local legislation and code amendments. Essential Duties Assist with daily review of bills introduced during the Maryland General Assembly legislative session to identify bills that are relevant to or may impact functions of the Planning & Land Management (PLM) Department. Enter information from relevant bills in tracking table. Research potential fiscal, operational, and other relevant impacts of proposed bills related to PLM functions. Assist in coordination with relevant PLM managers and staff to request review and comments on proposed bills. Coordinate with Special Projects Coordinator for direction on potential actions to take related to proposed bills. Assist with tracking proposed legislation and amendments and monitor their progress throughout the legislative process. Research local policies, legislation, and best practices to support the development of recommendations and assist with the legislative process. Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. This internship is a Spring placement, which will run from January to April, or as agreed upon by the manager and intern.
