A Fiscal Director or Budget Director manages the budget and finance department of government agencies or cities. They manage the operations of the budget and finance department; including leading analysts and staff. They review and make recommendations on budget requests and options in terms of policy, programs and objectives for the agency or city while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and statutes. They are responsible for the accumulation of data to support the development of financial analysis and budgeting, including the preparation of quarterly, monthly and annual financial performance measures.

Job Description
Larson@lbo.mn.gov . The LBO deputy director supports the Minnesota Legislature by leading the LBO in various tasks, including:
- Managing a team of analysts evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of Minnesota tax expenditures
- Working with the LBO director to develop and implement a business plan for the Office
- Developing and maintaining relationships and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders
- Creating standards and protocols and building internal metrics to evaluate and guide the LBO The LBO will determine the starting salary based on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience.
- Masters Degree in public finance, public policy, or a related field. A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree in a related field and three additional years of experience may substitute the Masters Degree requirement
- Seven years in a financial, economic, or statistical analysis environment
- Two years serving in a position as a lead, supervisor, or manager capacity
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities: o High-level analytical skills necessary to lead detailed quantitative studies o Ability to support and motivate staff o Ability to communicate complex analysis in a public setting and to a wide range of audiences
- Nonpartisan background and ability to act impartially, in a politically neutral manner
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience providing lead direction on research and quantitative analysis projects
- Technical skills sufficient to use software programs to conduct complicated analysis of tax data
- Knowledge of public finance and state budget process
- Experience working with a state or federal legislature
