Overview The Village of Harriman is seeking a Superintendent of Public Works. This administrative and technical role involves planning, coordinating, and directing the overall operations of the Public Works Department and overseeing the operation and maintenance of the Village water system. The work is performed under the administrative direction of the Mayor. The position supervises the activities of all subordinate Public Works and water employees. Performs related work as required. Responsibilities Maintenance of Village roadways and storm drain systems within the Village's one-square-mile area. Operate and maintain the Village water system, including, but not limited to, wells, booster stations, water tanks, and related water system appurtenances, including all reports required by the Health Department. Maintenance of all Village buildings, structures, vehicles, and properties. Supervision and coordination of snow and ice removal activities. Responding to taxpayer and water customer complaints and concerns. Prepare the departmental budget and direct and maintain budget control. Assigning and managing DPW employees. Working with Village consultants, other department heads, and vendors. Maintaining daily records of Department activities and preparing monthly reports. Planning and coordinating projects and equipment needs with the Village Board. Responding to after-hours emergencies. Qualifications (A) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university, or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees, with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, and one (1) year of experience in public works or related construction activities, which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR (B) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university, or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees, with an associate's degree in engineering science or a related field, and three (3) years of experience in public works or related construction activities, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR (C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience in public works or related construction activities, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid New York State CDL Class B Driver's License. Possession of a Water License IIB. Salary Negiotable, based upon experience and qualification
