Assistant Public Works Director City of Chickasha Are you a strategic leader with a passion for public service and infrastructure? The City of Chickasha is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Public Works Director to help lead and support essential community services that keep our city running. About the Role Under the direction of the Public Works Director, this position plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily operations and long-term planning across multiple divisions, including: Streets Fleet Maintenance Property Maintenance Water & Wastewater Sanitation Services In the Director's absence, you may step in to lead the department and ensure continuity of operations. What You'll Do Support supervision of division managers and staff across multiple service areas Help plan, organize, and coordinate staffing, equipment, and infrastructure Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets and capital improvement plans Oversee public works projects to ensure compliance with timelines and budgets Improve operational efficiency by evaluating and standardizing policies and procedures Respond to public inquiries and collaborate with engineers, agencies, and stakeholders Contribute to strategic planning and long-term infrastructure initiatives Foster a productive, professional, and collaborative work environment What We're Looking For Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage diverse operations Knowledge of public works administration, infrastructure systems, and regulatory compliance Experience in project management, budgeting, and strategic planning Ability to solve complex problems and make high-level decisions Excellent communication skills with both internal teams and the public Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Minimum of 4 years of related experience, including 2 years in a management role Knowledge of water/wastewater regulations and public works operations Certifications & Requirements Valid Oklahoma Driver's License Ability to obtain within 6 months: DEQ Water Certification DEQ Wastewater Certification Class A CDL Work Environment This role involves both office and field work, including exposure to outdoor conditions, equipment, and active work sites.
