Program Director Citizen Advocacy of Chester County is a local nonprofit that initiates and supports one-to-one Citizen Advocacy relationships between people with developmental disabilities and local citizens. This is s hands-on, community-based work for a natural people person who is engaging, curious, and a strong listener; has a strong belief in the inherent dignity of all people; is not afraid to ask people to do meaningful and sometimes challenging things; and communicates clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. The Program Director recruits and supports Citizen Advocacy matches, builds community connections, helps with fundraising and events, and serves as a public face of Citizen Advocacy through public speaking and community presentations and in one-to-one settings. The ideal candidate is someone who "never meets a stranger," enjoys networking and building relationships, and is comfortable working independently while also being part of a small team. College degree preferred. Previous nonprofit, advocacy, or social-services experience is not required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and comfortable with standard computer technology, have dependable transportation, be willing to travel for training, and have a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.
