Hiring Agency Education & Labor Cabinet | Department of Education Location 300 Sower Boulevard Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description The agency may authorize the selected applicant to telecommute. The agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time. Telework will not be permitted outside the state of Kentucky. The Kentucky Department of Education is a service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and part of the Education and Labor Cabinet. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky's public schools and districts as they implement the state's P-12 education requirements. The department also serves as the state liaison for federal education requirements and funding opportunities. The department is led by an appointed commissioner of education, who is hired by and answers to the 11-member Kentucky Board of Education. Offices are administered by associate commissioners, and divisions within those offices are administered by division directors. The department employs approximately 425 Frankfort-based workers; 175 employees in support of the Kentucky School for the Blind (Jefferson County) and Kentucky School for the Deaf (Boyle County); and about 518 employees at the 50 Area Technology Centers across the state.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Oversees all programmatic functions within the Division of District Support including management and direct supervision of staff. Provides supervisory oversight of personnel and activities of assigned branches within division. Leads division teams in completing management reviews or audits at the commissioner's request. Review and analyze state and federal statutes and regulations pertaining to school finance and make recommendations on policies and procedures that support those requirements. Manage projects related to each branch supervised within the division. Act as liaison between the division and other agency organizational units in matters related to school finance and department's strategic initiatives. Provides direct supervision, including approval of leave requests, timesheets and completion of performance evaluations of employees. Attend professional meetings and development opportunities to update staff or local district personnel on policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Five years of administrative or management experience, two of which must include direct supervision of personnel. Substitute
