Overview Impact Christian Academy is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-minded Communications Director to help tell the story of our school and strengthen communication with our families, prospective families, church community, alumni, donors, and broader community. Working with the Head of School, the Communications Director would act as the primary storyteller, brand manager, and community connector. The Communications Director will oversee the school's internal and external communications, ensuring that our messaging consistently reflects our Christian faith, educational mission, and commitment to students and families. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys writing, storytelling, photography, social media, event promotion, and building relationships. The successful candidate will be a thoughtful communicator who can translate the everyday life of our school into compelling stories that help our community understand who we are, what we value, and the impact of a Christian education. Responsibilities School Communications Develop and manage a consistent communications strategy aligned with the school's mission, vision, and values. Write, edit, and distribute school communications, including newsletters, announcements, parent communications, and community updates. Maintain a consistent and welcoming voice across all communication channels. Partner with the Head of School, school board, teachers, and staff to identify and share stories, accomplishments, and important information. Help ensure families receive timely, accurate, and clear information. Marketing & Storytelling Tell compelling stories about students, teachers, alumni, families, and the school community. Create content that communicates the distinctives and value of a Christian elementary education. Develop written, photographic, and video content for use across school communications. Coordinate communications surrounding major school events, programs, milestones, and celebrations. Help develop promotional materials for admissions, fundraising, special events, and school initiatives. Digital & Social Media Manage the school's social media presence and develop a regular content calendar. Create engaging posts, graphics, photos, short-form videos, and other digital content. Monitor engagement and adjust content based on what resonates with the school community. Maintain and update website content, ensuring information is current, accurate, and reflective of the school's mission. Maintain appropriate standards for student privacy, photography, and social media use. Writing press releases for local newspapers regarding school milestones, charity drives, or unique student achievements. Admissions Support Partner with the admissions/enrollment team to communicate the school's mission and educational experience to prospective families. Develop stories and content that showcase student life, academics, spiritual formation, extracurricular activities, and the school community. Assist with communications for open houses, tours, enrollment events, and other admissions initiatives. Help prospective families understand what makes Impact Christian Academy distinctive. Community & Church Relations Support communication and relationship-building with partner churches, pastors, alumni, donors, and community organizations. Help communicate the school's role within the broader Christian community. Develop materials and stories that demonstrate the school's impact and ministry. Requirements A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and an ability to support and communicate the school's Christian mission and values. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Experience with social media platforms and digital communications. Experience creating visual content using photography, graphic design, video, or related tools preferred. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when communicating about students and families. Experience working in a school, church, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organization is preferred. The school maintains a professional, consistent, and welcoming public presence. Communications support enrollment, community engagement, fundraising, and overall school advancement.
