ABOUT THE CENTER FOR CHINA ANALYSIS

The Center for China Analysis (CCA) is part of the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI), a think- and do- tank with a policy-solving mandate that tackles major policy challenges confronting the Asia-Pacific in security and diplomacy; trade, investment, and innovation; climate and energy; and society, technology, and public health. Established in 2022, CCA is committed to decoding China's complexities with an "inside-out" approach by offering evidence-based, independent, and policy-relevant analyses with a balanced, holistic, and human-centered focus, covering Chinese domestic politics; economy and technology; foreign policy and national security; climate, energy and the environment; society, public health, and education. SUMMARY The Asia Society Policy Institute's Center for China Analysis (CCA) is seeking a highly qualified Fellow on Global Public Health with expertise in public health—particularly in China—and knowledge of developments in U.S.-China relations in the health, science, and technology sectors to join CCA's public health team. This is a grant-funded opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Management Build, lead, and direct a team focused on tracking and analyzing policy developments, regulatory changes, sector updates, and emerging trends in public health in both China and the United States. Manage and oversee existing projects under the public health pillar, including the Cure4Cancer initiative and U.S.-China mental health collaboration. Supervise and coordinate the work of CCA senior fellows, fellows, and affiliated researchers within the public health pillar, and liaise with other staff and fellows from ASPI and the Asia Society as needed. Develop and implement strategies to effectively publicize the pillar's work and strengthen its impact among local and global audiences. Contribute to center-wide initiatives and strategic thinking, and participate in the design, goal-setting, and implementation of pillar-specific and center-wide policy projects. Mentor and cultivate the next generation of public health researchers. Research and Analysis Develop and lead existing and new research projects on policy and political developments in China's public health sector. Provide oversight and substantive input to a monthly public health newsletter, as well as other CCA public- and private-facing newsletters, policy memos, research reports, and papers. Serve as the principal editor and reviewer for all products from the public health pillar to ensure high quality and alignment with CCA's mission. Initiate, develop, and execute public and private panel discussions, roundtables, and other events on public health, and represent CCA in both public forums and private high-level briefings. Undertake media interviews and publish op-eds in prominent national and international news outlets. Fundraising Identify and cultivate new and existing donors, and lead the pillar's fundraising efforts, including drafting concept notes and proposals, exploring new funding opportunities, and securing support for the pillar's projects and products. Leverage, expand, and engage CCA's expert networks for both fundraising purposes and to promote the work of the pillar and CCA as a whole. Build and strengthen institutional networks and relationships with stakeholders, individuals, and organizations on public health in China, United States, and globally. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS A

master's degree in public policy, global policy, public health, or a related field is required. 7-9 years of progressively responsible experience, including at least two years of management experience. Demonstrated expertise and interest in Chinese public health issues, with research experience on Chinese public health policy, history and mechanisms of U.S.-China public health cooperation. Demonstrated experience in grant management and fundraising. Advanced or native capabilities in Chinese and English, especially in reading and translation. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality. Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team. Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
