Legal Advocate - OHA City Personnel - 4.1 Cranston, RI Job Details $27 an hour 22 hours ago Benefits 401(k) matching Qualifications Strategic goal setting Legal analysis Bachelor's degree Productivity software Full Job Description We're partnering with the State of Rhode Island's Office of Healthy Aging to find a Legal Advocate to serve as the statewide Legal Assistance Developer (LAD). This role will help strengthen access to legal services and protect the rights of older adults across Rhode Island while supporting statewide legal assistance initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic, detail-oriented professional with strong relationship-building skills and experience working across legal, community, or aging-focused organizations.

Cranston, RI Responsibilities of the
Legal Advocate:
Develop strategies to improve access to justice and legal services, advise agency leadership on elder law trends, and build legal assistance priorities into the State Plan on Aging. Coordinate statewide legal assistance services funded under the Older Americans Act and identify unmet legal needs among older adults. Provide technical assistance, consultation, and training to Adult Protective Services, legal assistance providers, the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Programs, and other aging network partners. Lead public education and outreach on elder rights, abuse prevention, consumer protection, planning, and alternatives to guardianship. Monitor statewide legal capacity, analyze program data, and work with state agencies, courts, and community partners to find service gaps and recommend improvements. Qualifications of the
Legal Advocate:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in legal and/or human and social services, or a related field. Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in elder law, legal services, aging policy, public administration, or a related field. Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills, with program administration and public policy experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present to diverse audiences. Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to analyze data to spot trends and inform program improvements. Submit your resume today for immediate consideration!
