Full-Time | On-Site Position Overview A growing manufacturing company is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join its Purchasing team in Newark, NJ. This position plays a key role in ensuring production runs smoothly by supporting the procurement of raw materials, supplies, and inventory needed for daily operations. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while working closely with suppliers and internal departments. Responsibilities Assist with the day-to-day purchasing activities that support manufacturing operations. Create, process, and maintain purchase orders accurately and efficiently. Track open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers regarding order status and delivery schedules. Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to support production. Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse personnel, production, and other internal departments to ensure timely material availability. Review receiving documents, invoices, and purchase orders to identify and resolve discrepancies. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and inventory data. Assist with inventory counts, reconciliations, and reporting. Prepare purchasing reports and perform general administrative support for the Purchasing department. Ensure purchasing activities comply with established company policies and procedures. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, warehouse operations, manufacturing, or administrative support preferred. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Experience with ERP, purchasing, or inventory management systems is a plus. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven manufacturing environment. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors such as work location, job-related skills, qualifications, experience, responsibilities, and relevant education and training.
