  • Job Description Title of position:
Purchasing Clerk Job Description Summary:
Responsible for acquiring materials and fabrication to fulfill requests for purchases, including preparing purchase orders and handling inquiries about orders. Follows through with purchase from order placement to fulfillment and coordinates with all required departments. Responsible for coordinating all activities associated to procurement of materials and fabrication for the company. A Purchasing Clerk's work performance can significantly influence how much revenue a business generates each year. A Purchasing Clerk's job is generally to assist in making sure the business expends as little as possible for materials and fabrication utilized to generate as large a profit as possible. A Purchasing Clerk should be in touch with all company departments to maintain supplies as needed. They should have a technical familiarity with the materials regularly purchased by the business.
Overall responsibility:
Purchasing and Inventory Control Key areas of responsibility: Develop and implement Purchasing strategies to meet organizational needs. Research, evaluate and select suppliers. Negotiate pricing. Build and maintain strong relations with vendors. Monitors supplier performance and adjust as necessary. Process purchase orders, ensuring accurate and timely delivery. Order material and fabrication from design generated stocklists. Prepare and request vendor quotes for materials and fabrication. Generate purchase order requisitions and track deliveries of materials to shop and job sites. Ensure all documentation and vendor order confirmations are accurate as it relates to stocklists and purchase orders. Coordinate with appropriate departments of placement, shipping and delivery of material / fabrication orders. Review monthly vendor pricing updates and use information for future vendor purchases. Track and utilize overstock inventory in place of ordering new material Assist with monitoring inventory control systems Order and track all job site equipment rentals (lifts, fork trucks etc.) Keep Estimating staff aware of price fluctuations in material.
