Job Description

PURCHASING
Position:
Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00

SUMMARY:
Obtain high quality, cost effective material to support sales of primarily mechanical and electrical contract hardware while maintaining given timetables. Maintain and develop strong supplier relationships. Act as technical liaison for assigned commodities, communicate supplier related information to other departments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for all phases of purchasing commercial contract hardware as it relates to the total opening and to function with hollow metal, FRP, and specialty doors and frames including related supplies and services. Receive and analyze purchase requisitions to coincide with project schedules and sales orders. Maintain inventory levels as well as trends. Analyze available quotes, suppliers, review current pricing. Issue Purchase Orders. Accurately convert schedules to vendor format. Follow up on Purchase Orders with assistants as well as project managers. Dates of inbound inventory. Maintain Continuity of supply. Communicate to Project Managers / Salespeople current supply side issues. Investigate and resolve receipt issues, back orders and material shortages. Assist accounts payable, resolve and approve invoice discrepancies. Material Quality Verify material meets specifications. Assure material meets label authority requirements. Assure assembly requirements. Resolve material quality issues with replacement or reworked material. Determine cost, request credit. Investigate and resolve warranty issues. Product Knowledge helpful Related products - Hollow Metal, FRP, wood & Stainless Steel doors and frames. Core products - Heavy duty Industrial / commercial hardware Order coordination , templates, product interaction and function. Supplier Relations and Communication Primary point of contact for assigned suppliers. Price books, buying program maintenance and communication. Quotes. Technical liaison between suppliers and Block Iron. Maintain Inventory at all Warehouses New inventory item creation. Cycle counts. End of year.
Minimum Qualifications:
Four year degree plus 2 years purchasing or equivalent combination of education and experience. Have both a functional and working knowledge of computers in general Comsense experience (preferred) Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
