FULL DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an Import/Operations Clerk to support international shipping and logistics operations in a fast-paced, global transportation environment. This temp-to-hire role is responsible for coordinating inbound shipments, communicating with ocean carriers, airlines, freight forwarders, vendors, and internal teams, tracking shipment status, maintaining import documentation, and supporting accurate day-to-day operational workflow. The ideal candidate will have import, logistics, shipping, or freight forwarding experience, strong Microsoft Outlook and Office skills, excellent written communication, and strong attention to detail. The selected candidate will be responsible for: Coordinating and managing international shipments through ocean freight and air carriers Communicating with ocean lines, airlines, freight forwarders, vendors, and internal teams regarding shipment status and updates Tracking shipments from origin through arrival and final delivery Reviewing and maintaining import documentation, records, and operational files Assisting with shipment scheduling and coordination Helping resolve logistics issues and shipment-related questions Providing timely updates regarding shipment status, delays, and delivery expectations Performing data entry and administrative support related to import operations Preparing professional emails and correspondence with strong grammar, spelling, and attention to detail Maintaining accurate records using Microsoft Outlook and other office applications Supporting daily import, operations, logistics, and customer communication needs Managing multiple shipment priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Communicating professionally with international partners and transportation providers Supporting smooth operations from booking through delivery Performing other duties as assigned The selected candidate will also possess: 1+ year of experience in import, logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, or related operations preferred Ocean freight experience preferred Airline freight or air carrier coordination experience preferred Experience communicating with ocean carriers, airlines, freight forwarders, vendors, or international partners preferred Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook required Microsoft Office application experience required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong grammar, spelling, and attention to detail required Strong organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Reliable, detail-focused, and professional approach Ability to work in a small, fast-paced, international logistics environment Ability to work with employees, partners, and customers from different backgrounds and locations Mandarin bilingual skills are a plus but not required Ability to work onsite in City of Industry, CA Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Ability to support a temp-to-hire opportunity
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while reviewing shipment information, import documentation, emails, operational files, carrier updates, and logistics records Ability to communicate by phone, email, and in person throughout the workday Ability to review detailed shipping documents, import records, freight details, schedules, emails, and computer screens for extended periods Ability to use hands and fingers for typing, data entry, filing, scanning, documentation, and standard office tasks Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the office as needed Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move standard office files, documents, or supplies Ability to work in an office and logistics support environment while following applicable company procedures
