Job Description

Construction Project Scheduler (Primavera P6) Premier Interior Development, Inc.
Location:
Simi Valley, CA or El Segundo, CA Job Type:
Full-Time, In-Office Salary:
$120,000-$140,000 per year, depending on experience Position Summary Premier Interior Development, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Project Scheduler to support our commercial and aviation construction operations. This position may be based from either our Simi Valley or El Segundo office . The Construction Project Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and updating detailed construction schedules using Oracle Primavera P6 . The Scheduler will work directly with Premier's project managers, superintendents, executives, subcontractors, and project partners to develop realistic project schedules, track actual progress, identify critical path activities and potential delays, and help project teams keep projects on schedule. A significant portion of Premier's work is performed in active airport environments , where phasing, logistics, security requirements, stakeholder coordination, procurement, shutdowns, and milestone commitments make scheduling a critical part of successful project delivery. We are looking for someone who understands construction first and scheduling second . The successful candidate should understand how a project is actually built—from preconstruction and procurement through field installation, commissioning, punch list, and closeout—and be able to translate that knowledge into a properly developed CPM schedule. This is not simply a data-entry or schedule-update position. The Scheduler must be capable of building schedules from scratch, understanding and developing CPM logic, independently analyzing schedule performance, and identifying potential schedule impacts before they become larger project issues. Primary Responsibilities Schedule Development & Maintenance Develop detailed baseline construction schedules from project plans, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and project team input. Build and maintain project schedules using Oracle Primavera P6 . Develop appropriate activity sequencing, durations, relationships, calendars, milestones, constraints, and CPM logic. Incorporate preconstruction, submittals, procurement, fabrication, construction, testing, commissioning, punch list, and closeout activities. Develop schedules that account for complex project phasing, operational constraints, access requirements, shutdowns, and other conditions common to active airport environments. Update project schedules based on actual field progress and information provided by project managers and superintendents. Maintain accurate actual start/finish dates, remaining durations, forecast dates, and schedule logic. Develop short-term and long-term look-ahead schedules as required. Maintain schedule narratives and supporting documentation for schedule updates. Schedule Analysis & Project Support Identify and monitor the project's critical path and near-critical activities . Analyze total float, schedule trends, sequencing issues, constraints, and potential delays. Compare actual progress against baseline and current schedule requirements. Identify schedule risks early and communicate them clearly to project teams and executive management. Work directly with project managers and superintendents to develop solutions to scheduling conflicts and potential delays. Assist project teams in developing recovery schedules and acceleration plans when required. Evaluate subcontractor schedules and incorporate subcontractor activities into the overall project schedule. Participate in project scheduling and coordination meetings. Support project teams in meeting owner, airport authority, airline, concessionaire, and other stakeholder schedule requirements. Delay & Change Analysis Evaluate schedule impacts associated with RFIs, design changes, owner changes, differing site conditions, procurement issues, subcontractor performance, access restrictions, and other project events. Assist project teams with Time Impact Analyses (TIA) and schedule fragnet development. Maintain appropriate schedule documentation to support potential time extensions and delay claims. Analyze schedule impacts associated with change orders and changes in project scope. Assist management with retrospective schedule and delay analysis when required. Support preparation and review of recovery schedules. Provide schedule information and documentation to support change order negotiations and claims when necessary. Reporting & Communication Prepare schedule reports for project teams and executive management. Develop milestone reports, critical-path reports, look-ahead schedules, and schedule variance reports. Clearly communicate schedule status, risks, delays, and required corrective actions. Participate in owner, contractor, subcontractor, and internal project meetings as required. Work closely with Premier's project management and field teams to ensure schedules accurately reflect actual project conditions. Required Experience & Qualifications 3+ years of construction scheduling experience . Strong proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 Professional . Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling . Demonstrated experience building construction schedules from scratch , not simply updating schedules developed by others. Ability to develop and evaluate schedule logic, activity relationships, durations, milestones, constraints, and critical path. Experience analyzing project delays and schedule impacts. Working knowledge of construction sequencing and field operations. Experience supporting projects through preconstruction, procurement, construction, and closeout . Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work directly with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, clients, and executive management. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage schedules for multiple projects. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of construction scheduling or project controls experience. Airport or aviation construction experience. Experience working within active airports, terminals, or other occupied and highly regulated facilities. Experience with complex phased construction and fast-track projects. Experience preparing or reviewing Time Impact Analyses, recovery schedules, and delay analyses . Experience with Procore and Bluebeam. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required. AACE Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP), CCM, or similar certification is a plus but not required. About Premier Interior Development Premier Interior Development, Inc. is a national General Contractor and Construction Manager with more than 30 years of experience delivering complex construction projects throughout the United States. A core part of Premier's business is aviation and airport construction , including airport concessions, airline lounges, restaurants, retail spaces, infrastructure, and other improvements within active terminal environments. Our teams routinely work in secure, fully operational facilities where detailed phasing, logistics, stakeholder coordination, and maintaining airport operations are critical to successful project delivery. In addition to aviation, Premier performs commercial construction across hospitality, corporate, healthcare, institutional, restaurant, retail, and other markets. What We're Looking For We are looking for a scheduler who can do more than operate P6. The right candidate understands how construction actually gets built and can sit down with a project manager or superintendent, understand the project plan, and turn that information into a logical, realistic, and defensible construction schedule. You should be comfortable questioning sequencing, identifying missing activities or logic, recognizing when the schedule does not match what is actually happening in the field, and communicating those issues clearly to the project team. We want someone who is organized, analytical, proactive, and willing to take ownership of the scheduling process .
