Surgical Scheduler Position Summary The Scheduler is responsible for securing clinical information to accurately schedule Cardiovascular Surgical procedures. The patient is pre-registered in the hospital information system to enable pre-certification of the procedure prior to the day of the procedure. Surgical Scheduler Position Requirements One to two years medical /business office experience. Computer experience and keyboarding (typing) required. Experience in healthcare billing, collection, or registration preferred. Customer service experience preferred. Requires four months on-the-job training. Must be able to organize effectively, work under restraints of time and pressure while maintaining accuracy. Must communicate effectively. Must accept change on a routine basis. Memory for details is essential. Exact identification of patient is essential. Must be able to review and critically analyze data to ensure accuracy. Education High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Medical terminology and/or medical work related knowledge preferred. Courses in computer, office or public relations preferred. Must assure that equipment is maintained in appropriate manner to assure proper usage and life. Downtime is a major factor and should be avoided. Responsible for monitoring economic usage of supplies. In performing the job duties, must have ability to work with the following equipment (if applicable). Training will be provided.
