Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Scheduler to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will coordinate surgical procedures, manage patient schedules, and ensure seamless communication between patients, surgeons, and clinical staff. Your proactive approach will help optimize operating room efficiency and enhance patient care experiences. Responsibilities Schedule surgeries and procedures accurately within the electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Nextgen, or SIS software Confirm patient eligibility and verify insurance coverage, including Medicare and health insurance policies Prepare and review all necessary documentation, including care plans, CPT coding, ICD-10 codes, and other medical records Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-operative instructions and post-operative follow-up appointments via phone or in person Coordinate with clinical teams to ensure availability of operating rooms, surgical supplies, and necessary personnel Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies Manage multi-line phone systems, handle appointment rescheduling, and provide exceptional patient service at the front desk Requirements Proven experience in medical scheduling within a clinical or surgical environment; clinic experience preferred Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Nextgen, SIS or Epic Familiarity with medical coding including CPT codes and ICD-10 coding standards for billing purposes Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health information management software Ability to review medical documentation accurately and ensure compliance with surgeon protocols Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Prior experience working in a surgical office or Ambulatory Surgical cener Join our team to help streamline surgical scheduling processes while delivering compassionate support to our patients.
