Verify patient insurance coverage and communicate with health insurance providers to confirm benefits related to Medicare, HIPAA compliance, and other payers. Review medical records and documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to surgery dates, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and care plan details. Coordinate with physicians, clinical staff, and patients to confirm appointment times, prepare pre-operative instructions, and provide detailed information about surgical procedures. Maintain meticulous records of scheduling activities, cancellations, reschedules, and follow-up appointments while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies. Assist with medical billing processes by ensuring proper coding and documentation for accurate claim submission. Communicate effectively via phone and electronic messaging to answer patient inquiries, provide appointment reminders, and facilitate smooth office operations. Qualifications Proven experience in medical scheduling within a clinical or hospital setting; clinic experience is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Modernizing Medicine, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential. Excellent understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and healthcare documentation review processes. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Bilingual abilities are a plus to support diverse patient populations. Prior experience in medical billing or medical administrative support is advantageous. Strong communication skills with professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation. Office experience in a healthcare setting involving front desk duties or medical receptionist responsibilities is desirable.
