Job Title:
Field Scheduler Job Description The Field Scheduler coordinates and deploys skilled labor and equipment to industrial construction job sites to meet project demands. This role serves as the primary liaison between the company, union business agents, field crews, and internal operations, ensuring the right people, trucks, and documentation are in place at the right time. The position focuses on manpower planning and field coordination rather than financial management and requires a highly organized, personable professional who thrives in a fast-paced, phone- and email-driven environment. Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule skilled labor and equipment for industrial construction job sites to meet project timelines and demands. Serve as the primary point of contact between union business agents, field crews, and internal operations teams to align staffing and deployment needs. Ensure the correct personnel, vehicles, tools, and documentation are assigned and available for each job at the appropriate time. Manage daily manpower planning, adjusting schedules and assignments as project needs and site conditions change. Communicate frequently by phone and email with internal and external stakeholders to confirm availability, start times, job locations, and assignment details. Maintain accurate records of schedules, assignments, and changes to ensure clarity and accountability across projects. Support active industrial construction sites by responding promptly to urgent scheduling requests and last-minute changes. Collaborate with operations leadership to understand project priorities and resource requirements. Learn and apply union processes and industrial construction workflows to ensure compliant and efficient scheduling. Work calmly and efficiently in a deadline-driven environment, keeping multiple moving parts aligned without losing attention to detail. Essential Skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Highly personable and professional communication style, with comfort building relationships over the phone and via email. Experience in logistics, dispatching, scheduling, staffing, or coordination roles is strongly preferred. Experience in heavy phone coordination environments such as logistics, trucking, staffing, hospitality scheduling, or dispatch. Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and solution-focused in a fast-moving industrial construction environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word. High attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy in schedules and documentation rather than financial or accounting tasks. Willingness and ability to learn union processes, industrial construction workflows, and internal systems, with training provided as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Project coordination experience in industrial or mechanical construction settings. Exposure to project scheduling and planning tools or processes. Customer service mindset with the ability to support field teams and internal stakeholders effectively. General understanding of project management concepts within construction or industrial environments. Openness to ongoing learning and development, including understanding union interactions and field operations. Interest in working in a coordination role that emphasizes communication, organization, and problem-solving. Work Environment This is an office-based position that provides scheduling and coordination support for active industrial construction sites. The majority of the workday is spent communicating by phone and email in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where schedules may change daily. The role involves regular interaction with union representatives, field crews, and operations leadership. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hiawatha, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $33.65/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
