1st Job Description The Production Scheduler plays a key role in coordinating manufacturing activities by verifying inventory, creating and committing production work orders, and partnering closely with Purchasing and Production teams to manage raw material levels. This position ensures all printed customer orders are received and scheduled daily, supports other scheduling and project staff as needed, and follows strict product safety and quality standards. The role operates with minimal supervision and contributes directly to efficient production planning in a food-industry manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Check and verify stock inventory daily to ensure accurate material availability for production. Create production work orders based on customer orders and manufacturing requirements. Commit manufacturing orders (MO's) on a daily basis from previous days' orders taken. Work closely with Purchasing and Production staff to manage raw material overages and shortages. Ensure all printed orders from Customer Service are received, reviewed, and scheduled each day. Assist in managing inventory levels, including storing and organizing raw materials and finished goods. Support and provide backup coverage for other scheduling and project staff as needed. Follow product safety and quality procedures by controlling physical contaminants and properly storing personal items. Report suspicious people or activities promptly to a supervisor or Human Resources. Use Microsoft Excel and other tools to plan and maintain production schedules and inventory information. Perform production planning and schedule planning activities to meet manufacturing timelines and customer demand. Multi-task across scheduling, inventory management, and coordination duties, adjusting priorities as needed. Maintain reliable, predictable attendance to support continuous production operations. Carry out other duties as assigned to support the scheduling and materials function. Essential Skills Minimum of 4 years of production experience in the food industry is preferred. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with Purchasing, Production, Customer Service, and supervisory staff. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel for scheduling and inventory management. Experience in manufacturing and production scheduling, including production planning and schedule planning. Inventory management skills, including the ability to manage raw materials and track inventory levels. Basic math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to weigh, measure, and convert amounts such as gallons, ounces, and fractions. High school diploma or GED completion. Ability to speak and read English to follow instructions, procedures, and documentation. Ability to multi-task and switch tasks as needed in a fast-paced production environment. Reliable and predictable attendance. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Downers Grove, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
