SAP S/4HANA
Production Scheduler supports manufacturing operations by managing the full lifecycle of production work orders within
SAP S/4HANA.
This role focuses on creating, releasing, maintaining, and closing work orders, ensuring data accuracy, resolving variances, and addressing inventory and storage-location issues to enable efficient production execution. The position is highly detail-oriented and requires hands-on experience with work order management in an SAP environment, as well as the ability to work independently on a fast-paced manufacturing floor. Responsibilities Create, release, update, and close production work orders in
SAP S/4HANA
to support daily manufacturing activities. Investigate and resolve work order variances, including material consumption discrepancies and cost variance issues. Process inventory transfers and storage-location adjustments required for accurate work order execution. Monitor and review work order status to ensure all transactions are completed accurately and on time. Maintain precise system data and documentation related to production orders, planned orders, and work orders. Collaborate closely with production, manufacturing, and planning personnel to ensure smooth workflow and production continuity. Interface regularly with the Production Supervisor, Manufacturing leadership, and SIOP/Scheduling team to align work order activities with production plans. Follow site-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Identify and address work order exceptions, material shortages, and other issues that could impact production schedules. Support production control and supply chain processes through effective work order management and inventory oversight. Contribute to timely completion of work orders and overall operational efficiency in a rapidly growing manufacturing environment. Use SAP PP and
SAP S/4HANA
modules as the primary tools for managing production orders, material availability, and order closeout. Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams on work order status, issues, and required actions to keep production on track. Work on the manufacturing floor to provide real-time support to operations and respond quickly to changing production demands. Essential Skills Direct, hands-on experience with
SAP S/4HANA
in a production or manufacturing environment. Experience in production planning or production scheduling. Minimum 1 year of work order management experience, including managing production orders and work orders. Experience releasing and closing production work orders in SAP. Experience investigating and resolving work order variances and exceptions, including material consumption discrepancies. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, documentation, and transaction processing. Ability to work independently with minimal training and limited supervision. Proficiency with data entry and Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook. Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and on a production floor. Ability to collaborate effectively with production, manufacturing, supply chain, and scheduling teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with SAP PP and
SAP S/4HANA
modules focused on production orders, planned orders, and work orders. Knowledge of production orders, planned orders, work orders, and order release processes. Understanding of material availability checks, material shortages, and inventory management within SAP. Exposure to supply chain and production control processes in a manufacturing setting. Experience with cost variance analysis and resolving work order-related cost discrepancies. Familiarity with order closeout procedures and work order exception handling. Experience supporting manufacturing operations and scaling production in a growing facility. Interest in internal mobility and long-term career growth within a stable, growth-oriented organization. Ability to demonstrate consistent employment history and commitment to roles over time. Work Environment This is a full-time, 100% onsite role based in a manufacturing facility in Libertyville. The position is located on the manufacturing floor rather than in a traditional office setting, providing direct exposure to production operations. The environment is a standard manufacturing setting with heating and air conditioning, and temperatures are generally moderate year-round. The facility is fast-paced and driven by significant business growth and increasing production demands, with the commercial and industrial business segment having expanded substantially in recent months and further growth expected over the next two years.
SAP S/4HANA
is the primary system used for work order and production management. Typical hours are approximately 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, five days per week, fully onsite, with some flexibility in scheduling depending on operational needs. The team structure includes approximately 32 floor employees, a Production Supervisor, manufacturing leadership, and a SIOP/Scheduling resource, and this role works closely with all of these groups while reporting into Operations and Supply Chain leadership. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Libertyville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
