Job Description

JOB Under the general direction of the County Administrator, this dynamic position is responsible for applying appropriate knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to effectively implement large, complex, long term, interdepartmental, and cross-functional projects that enhance county operations and maximize the use of public resources. Creates and manages project deployment strategies, risk assessments, schedules, budgets, deliverables, communication plans, status reports, and performance metrics from concept through implementation. Plan and execute change management tasks required for county operations to embrace, adapt, and support new solutions. Projects requiring integrated management coordination generally originate from Administration and/or the county's Capital Improvement Planning Committee. This is a full-time, benefited position based out of the Fillmore Campus located at 12220 Fillmore Street, West Olive, MI 49460. Typical working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Thoroughly assess expressed goals, objectives, and anticipated outcomes of proposed projects to ensure worthiness before launch. Bolster the implementation of county strategic plan priorities. Assemble, lead, and motivate cross-functional project teams, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure successful project execution. Work with project teams to make recommendations on changes in scope, costs, and forward-thinking integration opportunities to better serve county operations and maximize resources. Identify potential risks or delays and provide regular updates to stakeholders. Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints as necessary. Execute comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. Monitor and report on all phases of project planning to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives; document lessons learned during implementation and modify processes/decision-making as necessary for future endeavors. Operate within a strong ethical framework and strive to uphold public trust. Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of project management methods and techniques with an ability to apply advanced skills. Ability to make decisions on complex issues regarding project components, tasks, and process improvements. Exercise independent judgement and make recommendations to leadership on approach/options to accomplish project goals and objectives Strong verbal and written communication with excellent facilitation and presentation skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible, resourceful, and a self-starter. Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills.
